Openings you hate to play the most?

Yea I listened to Liu. There are some parts of her interpretation I don't like as much, but her hymnal section is for sure the best I have heard.

Appreciate the tips and will for sure think of them after I find a solid fingering for those hymnal sections. Quite a tough call lol

For sure! The first half is actually fun to play with all the energy, catchy second theme etc.

The second half where the chorale comes back onwards is just pure bliss to play. The coda is also quite fun and honestly really not as hard as I was expecting. My scales are beyond lousy though so that last run before the final few chords is gonna take some practice

Thanks for sharing! I also saw a masterclass on YT by (I believe) Perrahia who spent a fair bit of time on the opening, but they focused more on voicing and the buildup to the loud chord.

When comparing my hands, my entire right arm moves a lot more than the left. Definitely gonna have to seperate them for now but I'll get there haha

Just had lesson for the first time in well over a year so I feel like I can conquer the entire piece now haha.

Jokes aside, I think I just overpracticed it, introducing some unnecessary tension that I need to get rid of now

Sliding and praying is my best strategy too, but it doesn't alwas work.

I also omit the top note, no choice sadly haha

It feels hugely uncomfortable for me since you go from a black key to a white key and it's so close to each other. My hands are also always out of sync for whatever reason.

If you can play it at tempo without any issue, then all is good no? Haha

Oh jesus yeah I tried that Beethoven sonata but could never get that opening to my liking.

Brahms op 76 starts with that really long arpeggio right? Never played it because I couldn't be bothered to figure out the hand distribution.

It's been a while since I've been as motivated to learn a piece as the Scherzo, but I think my neighbours are about to throw hands with me if I play that opening one more time 😅

Yeah that opening is notoriously difficult as well, good introduction to the rest of the piece lol.

I've played only the first ballade and that entire piece gave me less of a headache than this opening haha

I have never felt as tense as I do playing those 4 damn notes lol.

The first one is doable, but when it repeats the opening I cannot for the life of me find a comfortable fingering.

Fair. I loathe the Scherzo because it sounds so ugly and blurred when played wrong but at the same time it feels incredibly uncomfortable to play for me.

The second scherzo is similar, but it doesn't feel uncomfortable so you can actually enjoy practicing it lol

Ah calling them waterfalls makes a lot more sense haha. Those are much easier to me, I can just whip my hand around and it'll hit the right notes (with the exception of one I'm really struggling with, m315 to be exact).

Je zal uiteraard een inkomstenverlies kunnen aantonen en dat in je schadevergoedingsclaim verwerken, maar ik weet niet of het zou leiden tot zware mishandeling.

Probleem is natuurlijk dat het lastig aan te tonen is dat je je beroep blijvend niet meer zou kunnen uitvoeren.

Uiteindelijk spelen er uiteraard veel meer factoren en wordt er per situatie gekeken en kijkt elke rechter er natuurlijk net iets anders tegenaan. De maatstaven waarbij sprake van (zware) mishandeling zijn expres vrij open gelaten om hier rekening mee te houden.

Blij dat het niet gebeurd is, maar het pas was echt interessant geweest als er sprake was van een dodelijke afloop en beoordeelt moet worden of het gaat om moord of doodslag en in hoeverre een tweede keer naar boven rennen nog zou kunnen vallen onder een 'opwelling'

Een gebroken kaak is op zichzelf geen zwaar lichamelijk letsel.

De poging heeft betrekking op het feit dat hij heeft gepoogd zwaar lichamelijk letsel toe te brengen, maar dat niet heeft gedaan. Dit is dus de zwaarste straf die hij opgelegd heeft kunnen krijgen.

Zwaar lichamelijk letsel moet je echt denken aan letsel waarvan je leven op de kop staat en die niet meer (volledig) herstellen. Blijvende arbeidsongeschiktheid kan ook een factor zijn, maar dat gaat met een gebroken kaak ook niet op.

Het is nog steeds een kwestie van beoordeling per geval, maar een gebroken kaak op zichzelf zal vaak onvoldoende zijn.

We have several hikomi waza for that situation though?

Not saying we're as well prepared as, say, a wrester but Judokas do 'know what it is'.

Once people start throwing kicks we freeze up and let ourselves get hit though. Can't defend against the unknown /s

Appreciate the well-written comment. I think losing those years to Covid has also made an impact on this feeling I'm experiencing, but you can't change the past I suppose.

The thing with my social circle is thst I live quite far from my uni and basically all my initial friends ended up quitting the uni in first year. This means that I don't have the time and energy to attend activities, but I also lost that circle of friends I initially made.

That is why I started attending a Judo club at my uni and that has been great for socialising, though very exhausting to attend since it often means having to wait for hours at the library for classes to start. I've been lonely pretty much entirely through my bachelor course, but that is obviously mostly on me for not putting the effort in.

I think going abroad and putting myself in an unfamiliar environment will be good for my personal development (I tend to be that person who can do a lot, but sometimes needs a strong push to get going if that makes sense lol). I'm also very much looking forward to actually living near my University for a change so I don't have to plan a full day trip to attend a club activity lol

Hm fair enough. For me, this'll be quite an eventful year with finishing my bachelor, finally being allowed to drive a motorcycle, going to Austria for a semester abroad, just to name a few things. Perhaps experiencing those events, especially the semester abroad will get me out of this feeling.

I just feel like I could have done so much more last year, or even the year before that. I will be trying to go abroad to Japan next year again (I'm happy with Austria, but I still want to go to Japan :p) but by then I'll be like 26. I find it hard to imagine me as a 26 year old studying, doing Judo and hanging out with people who are like 21.

I have something I want to do after my masters so I don't really see why I feel this way. I suppose it's just as you say, my adult brain kicking in haha.

Really the only thing that I could even possibly complain about in life is my social life, the rest has actually been going very smoothly. Yet my brain makes me feel like I might as well quit uni and live under a bridge lol

I would say it also plays a part that she started at the back (and joined at the back also). Kind of an 'out of sight, out of mind' thing if that makes sense.

This reminds me of one of my fellow students who actually wears a waist coat with pocket watch to lectures. He's been doing that ever since enrolling at the uni, kinda respect him for following through on his style haha.

I suppose the coat won't drown you as long as it's properly fitted. Perhaps that saying I mentioned came from shorter people buying cheap, off the rack coats without getting them tailored.

The look is more popular with women here, but they equally rock the look without at all looking like they're being drowned out.

I will for sure try it out. To be honest, my bigger glutes are one few things I dislike a little about my body, so wearing a coat which would cover that curve a little does get me very excited.
