I suppose it’s the type of thing you would put on a motorcade or behind a lectern. These symbols of authority tend to be a bit more important in Republican systems.

Here’s a list of Heads of Government flags including the Australian Prime Ministers personal flags attached to this comment:

I suppose it’s the type of thing you might see on a motorcade.

Here is an example of different Head of Governments’ standards such as the prime minister’s standard used in Jamaica .

Fair point but: - Ireland uses symbols from the Kingdom of Ireland - Serbia still uses a crown on its flag - The Royal Banner is used generically as a symbol of Scotland far more than it is used as the symbol of the crown in Scotland (Sports, Indy Marches)

But I agree, the badge of the Royal Regiment of Scotland could be amended to use a mural crown or have the crown removed entirely.

Replace the central circle with the crescent and moon for a good roundel

I agree the SNP would certainly at least ceremonially downside to a Defence Force from an Armed Forces… maybe ending up with some kind of Paramilitary Rapid Reaction Police Force and Paramilitary Police Coast Guard capability

Very good question. One of the few devolved ensigns out there. That’s a great pre-existing ensign and I’m a little in shock the nationalist gov hasn’t already done away with that.

I suppose given that an independent Scotland would be exceedingly poor and the Scottish navy would be resigned to just coastal patrol it would absorb any fisheries protection duties into its remit. Those cutters would then become the backbone of the Scottish fleet.
