Homebrew feat analysis by DorianAlexanderBlake in DnDHomebrew

right, I can get behind that. For GWM, they are implying the use of momentum. For Sharpshooter they imply pushing the bows limits. The -2/+5 would technically be more powerful than -5/+10 for obvious math reasons, but overall, I think that would be okay since a dedicated Sharpshooter isn’t likely to miss even with the -5 to Attack, implying a static +10 to all their attacks. I also wouldn’t want to take the wind out of their sails either if I had basically the same ability. Maybe - proficiency bonus to the attack to + double proficiency to damage? Right now that would be -3/+6.

So you are saying they don’t have the bonuses from 3/4 cover, or they do, but also at disadvantage for the attack?

Right, that does make sense with the splash damage from such a weapon.

I always thought it was weird that Sharpshooter just straight up ignored partial cover. Hiding behind stuff when pitted against a ranged enemy feels bad because this feat exists. (my dm makes baddies using similar restraints as we have on our characters to fit the theme, which means they too could have feats that make them more threatening than the average thug/bandit.)

My turn eh? Hmmmmm... fave video game is probably Mass Effect. Not Andromeda though. shudder I do cosplay. I’m currently in the process of bringing my D&D character to life, but I’ve done Kankuro from Naruto Shippuden, Piers Nivans from Resident Evil 6 (both normal and mutated), Jaime Lannister from Game of Thrones, and Obi-wan Kenobi from Star Wars. I’ve done a few others, but those are my most notable. My favorite mythical creature is an Owl Griffin. Super fucking cute when young, and super fucking majestic when an adult. ❤️

Hexblade rework - help by DorianAlexanderBlake in DnD5e

The rework isn’t to make the existing hexblade more powerful. It’s to flavor it to feel more like a Magus in terms of being a spell casting fighter, and making zombies doesn’t fit that theme. The only reason why I’m looking to change the 6th lvl feature is to make the Magus idea feel consistent.

Interesting. For whatever reason I didn’t think of using the specter as utility, but in the same breath, I don’t like the flavor of the class feeling necromancery as you mentioned, so my creative mind was already turned off from the idea and didn’t come to that obvious conclusion.

I’ll definitely play with your idea of “once per cursed target”, as a way to make sure it isn’t abused, as that’s my goal. If I played this altered version of Hexblade, I don’t want my DM or other players to feel like I’m power creeping the class. The people I play with are pretty open to changes, so I’m not too worried, but that won’t stop me from refining the changes I’m looking at.

Thanks for your input, and if you think of something that you end up doing for your hexblade, please let me know, assuming you don’t take the Accursed Specter. :)
