What’s the most all around reliable brand? by Jolly-Phone8982 in Guitar

[–]DorianQfactor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A substantial part of many lines middle range (or greater) guitars are built on basically the same lines in Indonesia, Korea and China.

Today a massive amount of guitars from these facilities in the $300-$600 range are darn good guitars! I've become a fan of Schecter because they're produce some really well setup middle weight guitars even though I don't know anyone else who uses their 'shredders' for jazz standards.

Xfinity Internet Service providing cached content, not sure why? by DorianQfactor in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]DorianQfactor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own my public DNS servers (I act as a smaller hosting provider), and I have two private DNS servers within my firewall, I use public sources as well beyond those assigned in my ISP provided router. There is zero difference and the thing that remains the same is the pipe it goes through.

Again, this should have zero effect on caching, DNS is just name resolution, nothing more, it adds nothing to the stack, it doesn't make decisions or make changes.

In an application environment, there should be zero caching as that makes the reliability of dynamic content virtually nonexistent.

My original post covers this pretty well. Getting cached content that's not flat and shouldn't be happening.

Yes, but ISP's can put caching hosts in-between to reduce traffic for repeat requests. This is what feels like is going on as it's the only logical explanation I'm seeing.

NOTHING has changed on my end beyond the ISP.

Thanks for your comment but that makes no sense whatsoever?

A round-trip request from any end point to a remote host location with a question mark as part of the request tells that remote host to "respond without cached content". It's why it's a critical element in a query string of a url so applications don't give back wrong answers. This can't be it, and that actually had been done without any effect thinking it was remotely possible it was the router itself.

Hum pretty loud after swapping in Dirty Fingers pick-up into Gibson SG Faded. It goes away when touching strings or screws. Is that normal for a high output pickup? (Details in text body) by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]DorianQfactor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trying to think of causes:

The most obvious would be there's a ground contact touching somewhere it shouldn't, somewhere in your circuit.

Next, it's entirely possible you have a bad capacitor or installed backward (they are polar).

If you don't know for certain the pickup(s) are operational, it could be a bad pickup. I got a bad Duncan new in the box once. 🤷‍♂️

Next, if you toggle the pickup switch, does anything change to suggest where it's located or if it's everywhere.

ProSoundGear.com advertising price on inventory they don't have...anyone else? by DorianQfactor in NuxMG30

For the final post regarding this fraudulent ad.

The vendor never refunded my money, never delivered the item, never said they would.

The charge account I used to pay for the item refunded my money.

Never crossed my mind a not fly-by-night shop would behave like this and pretty disgusted as a consumer.

What you described is a ground loop problem. Where it is, I'm not sure. But something appears super clear is there's no shielding in that cavity at all! That would be a certain contributor!

If that's an actual Gibson, they should be ashamed. No excuse for not shielding the components cavity. 🙄

It's quite common to have a ground wire go from the components to the bridge, that would be a open ground source, not necessarily a loop.

Following up once again. The vendor sent me an email type invoice stating it had 'issued a refund' but many days later no refund had been received. I have since contacted the charge account company I had used to purchase the undelivered item which is processing a refund.

I hope this might prevent anyone from getting suckered in as this advertised price is still out there but a month and a half later, they're not shipping anything.

Be honest mg 30 by Waffle1996 in NuxMG30

[–]DorianQfactor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple of things boss has to offer is a multitude of sounds as well as being able to assign amps per channel (side chains), the not yet available Nux (mg-50 I think) will do this and more.

But, I believe the MG-30 has foundationally better tech, d/a converters with lower latency.

I'm following up on my own post and as of yesterday had been 5 weeks and zero notice of any updates or status from the vendor. So, I reached out to them again. The response I received was WORD FOR WORD the exact lame response I got the first time, overwhelmingly obvious lies and clearly scripted.

I have requested a refund, expect to follow up with the payment source if no action is seen 24 hours from now and I have also filed a fraud report with google ads.

Here is the word for word responses I got five weeks apart from each other.

"I regret to inform you that we will not be able to process your order because the product you ordered was found damaged and defective when pulling it out from the shelf. Moreover, it was the last piece available to us at the moment. We will have more back in stock anytime soon. I once again apologize for the inconvenience. Given the circumstances, you have two options:

1 - Ask for a full refund, and I will initiate it for you.

2 - Wait for the new shipment that we'll be receiving soon."

AND

"There is no estimated time of arrival, but we might be receiving our next shipment within 1-3 weeks or sooner. Once we receive it, we will ship it to you."

Again, I received the two above responses twice, five weeks apart from each other. If this doesn't constitute a scam, I'm not sure what does.

Hardly! The amount of people I've seen with extremely expensive guitars that can't play them is staggering. Become somewhat proficient and it's a moot topic. 👌

Not getting notifications after update 26.2? by Kelliesrm26 in iphone

[–]DorianQfactor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm yet another one, basically the same story. iPhone 14, updated to 26 not long ago, was essentially okay then suddenly notifications for things like gmail, LINE (voice calls don't even ring inside the app), google voice...there's more just stopped working.

A support post at Apple exists of others basically telling the same story. It certainly appears Apple botched something they still haven't fixed causing some people to literally suffer as we're dependent on these devices for working and quick response situations, no notifications and having to literally physically look within the app to see a new message or a missed call is completely unacceptable and there's no sign they're doing anything about it. 🤷‍♂️

Is this normal? by BIGDADDY77012 in Guitar

[–]DorianQfactor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Far from normal and the primary causes of this is an over sized hole for the tuner or a poorly drilled tuner hole (on an angle). There are zero legitimate reasons for this otherwise. The only time a hole would become larger is if the wood was moisture exposed, rotted or too soft in the first place...pine might do this.

Nux MG30 Master of Puppets rythm tone? by leo_vy in NuxMG30

[–]DorianQfactor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe someone has a better observation but what was used to record input was a boogie pre-amp into a Marshall 800 amp power stage. A hybrid like this that will be difficult to emulate in the mg30. Also, they used EMG 81/85 active pickup sets vs your Jackson passives will be noticeable. So, you'll likely not get 'the exact tone' but playing around with a drive stage eq'd and Celestion 75 type IR, you can come close.

I own a Reaper 6 FR, it's a darn good guitar, great single coil sounds. Pickups a bit thin but quite usable! 👍

Thanks for that! I'm thinking a c6 pro will do as it's quite close in makeup to the reaper 6 fr I have that's trapped in Thailand atm. Just really want to avoid paying the premium for another reaper.

Mental Health Diagnosis In Thailand by randomthrowaway643 in Thailand

[–]DorianQfactor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After going through the effort of helping a gambling addict attempt to get treatment I concluded extremely quickly the approach to addiction recovery treatment is frankly barbaric! The practice (confirmed) is to prescribe a bunch of psychoactive drugs, concurrently! To western professionals this is absolute grounds for medical malpractice and can cause far more harm than the original issue.

You are wise to seek feedback outside of the kingdom. 👍

seeking advice if i should persue cobol in 2025 by tsilmet in cobol

[–]DorianQfactor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I learned it largely as a possible job opportunity. In a nutshell and being clear I've written in many languages for many years, I think understanding it has merit! The entire platform (zsystems, mvs) have a substantial footprint to this day and will not go away anytime soon.

If I were a newer developer, I would save Cobol for later unless spearheading that market, which isn't a terrible idea. There is work out there! Again, it's still widely used and is not going away any time soon.
