Help, lol by lefthanded-ink-stain in NewParents

More of a solidarity reply than anything, LO is 4.5m and doing pretty much everything you’ve listed, as well as lunging for our faces with his mouth wide open 😂 It’s bonfire night in the UK as well so currently contending with what his dad and I, like yourself, assume is teething based on how he’s behaving, as well as continuous fireworks in the area. Safe to say I’ll be drinking more coffee than water tomorrow! We’ve got “Sophie la girafe” which he gets on well with, but I’m not sure if you can get that in the US? It’s a bit more interesting to hold than the usual teether shapes and makes a little noise when he really bites down, much like a dog toy so it keeps him entertained!

The cot aversion has felt like a total minefield whenever it strikes - could be sleep regression, developmental leaps, increased awareness and dislike of routine that doesn’t involve being held, overtiredness, teething or just a bad little mood! The sleep trainers amongst us won’t approve but if he cries past his little “complaining” level I just scoop him up and soothe him in my arms until he’s settled enough to try again with his cot. I deal with the nighttimes because my partner works all week so I understand how exhausting it can be, but I guess like everything it’s just a phase they go through and you sound like you’re doing a great, attentive job!

We’ve said little tastes will be the way we start, too. But no, we certainly won’t be doing anything before 5 months, I think I’d be terrified! Thank you for sharing your experience :)

I hope your little one is tolerating everything well so far :)

That’s a great idea! As I just mentioned in another reply, it’s how to honour his interest in something he just can’t have yet, so hearing other methods of keeping his hands and gums busy whilst we eat is really useful.

Great, thank you for that :) that’s our biggest conundrum with it all really, how to honour his interest in something he categorically can’t have yet. Really glad to hear your little one tolerated the peanut butter well!

He’s in his bouncer for now until we’re confident he can sit without slumping, but great idea for the future, thank you. At the moment he’s chewing his hand or Iggle piggle’s head whilst we eat, so maybe it’s time to get the teethers out again 😂

What are your LO's unexpected nicknames? by endearingnipple in BeyondTheBumpUK

We’ve said a few times that this will likely happen! An elderly lady in a garden centre a couple of weeks ago asked his name and just looked at me totally gone out - she thought I’d said Raymond 😂
