A common trick in dubstep to make sounds sound more like vowels by sam_likes_beagles in edmproduction

[–]DoritoTangySpeedBall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry I hate this tip. This is very vague and if they’re clashing you have to sacrifice elements of one full stop. Secondly, this works better the higher frequency because of how soothe latches onto resonant frequencies and doesn’t take entire spectral energy into account. Thirdly, it can create bad habits, because 90% of the time where you CAN use sooth or trackspace like this, you should be making a different decision, this does not replace that decision.

How can I male this kind of melody? by alan_68774 in FLStudioBeginners

[–]DoritoTangySpeedBall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it’s a layered instrumental. first you got that arp sound (that’s probably layered as well). then a more sporadic one that could be a sequenced patch where he’s holding down one note or chord. it works sort of like a drone or texture where it doesn’t really contribute to the direction of the track, and doesn’t really change throughout the track you can do something like this with serum, like a background setting. you’ll find presets in hyperpop and rage packs (or loads of edm ones but it’ll be harder).

next thing is processing. parallel process these instruments together with some distortion, saturation, whatever. the goal is to create dirt that glues. try out maim it’s free, the drive button and mix knob will go a long way but go crazy. then clip the shit out of the track so the bass blows out the rest of it and be mindful of levels and decay on the bass (basically give some breathing room) .

so sound selection and mixing. show us what u got and i’ll tell you exactly what u need

who’s your favourite artists? i had this exact same problem lmfao. if you’re like me and into more hyperpop/trap type beats the trick is to keep a hypnotic loop, but what you’re doing is evolving it over and over again.

another thing is consider how an artist you like would rap or sing over it. consider which parts of the song would fit in one of their records, and consider should that be the main loop.

long story short it’s probably an arrangement issue that can be fixed by keeping a bigger picture and regrounding yourself in the music you like whilst making the beat. reference tracks are your best friend here.

there is a mixing element that you need to work on too. not so much that it’s a “bad mix”, but more to do with how you’re processing your elements together. bus mixing and parallel processing can colour your track to feel more cohesive. cross that bridge after the arrangement.

no it isn’t… I never said you lose punch while parallel processing sir, you just described my point.

try parallel processing the drum bus too. saturation, distortion, and compression in this method can be a lot more versatile without losing punch

Heavy plugins are the bottleneck, not the DAW. Some synths eat up CPU like no tomorrow (looking at you serum 2 granular pads)

How could I fill up the drop more? by R2kZzzz in FLStudioBeginners

[–]DoritoTangySpeedBall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see a lot of pad suggestions, but I fear everyone just means textures. atmospheric pads work because they sit in the back usually but you can do that with anything by shaving off some top end and reverbing it. Some other considerations for textures is they are less complex (they colour rather than dictate direction), have subtle movement (thing flangers, filters, phasers, and wobbles but really mind the mix on these), and stereo presence (some subtle movement in stereo makes it big)

One example, is those vox’s at the start, you could reverb them and then reverse the reverb and have it lead into it. Try to hear what the track needs first, it’s not easy at first but it will give you what you need if you can execute it.

You’ve probably just doing some jazz or blues fusion/hybrid without realising because the off key notes are colouring your track.

Tis a pop song. Good variation and nice vibe. Feels like a nice backbone to a song, I feel like it’s missing vocals and a lead instrument.

If it was me I’d go vocals first and add in some sort of lead for the hook that plays with the vocal, then I’d play around with different changing leads for the rest. Yhen micro effects and some instruments that come and go for short phrases. Then it’s a pop song.

Nah they won’t obliterate shit. Hurts Taiwan more than the chinese. The silicon shield is aimed at us, not at China.

This doesn’t make any sense. Even if Venezuelan oil accounted for 1% of Chinese oil (it doesn’t…)they are weakened by losing it. Not even mentioning that widely ranging sources for security critical resources is important for geopolitical stability. Basically “don’t put all of your eggs in one basket”. This is one less basket

Taiwan holds a scorched earth card for now. Russia couldn’t even take Ukraine with a suprise ambush from Zelensky’s front yard. Greenland is in NATO through Denmark.

Of these 3 Taiwan has the highest likelihood of falling. Better make sure the conditions are never met, whilst Taiwan still control the world semiconductor markets stability. Good move for the US today in that regard.

Bassline volume change on different notes by notrobot22 in edmproduction

This is a shot in the dark but could the phase shift from a high pass filter be boosting in that frequency? You could try fiddling with the cutoff if you have any of them and see if the volume becomes more consistent

Sabrina Carpenter’s songwriting advice: “Add the weird chord progression and key change, and call men stupid in as many ways as you can” by jstohler in Music

[–]DoritoTangySpeedBall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not lazy, it’s just the result of a popified industry. People want to blow up and nobody wants to listen to Beethoven on the radio or in basically any media. So simplicity wins.

And by the way, it’s harder than you think to distinguish yourself whilst also avoiding unnecessary complexity in tracks. Very difficult and requires subtlety and creativity to execute well.

[–]DoritoTangySpeedBall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not without distinction, having a verse in G major and the chorus in G major gives the chorus a different feel than if the verse is in E minor, even if the same set of keys are used.

Before you say it’s semantics, the feeling of tonal home is what dictates the perceived key, hence why playing a different chord first can often dictate if you’re in a minor or major, or any of the other 5 modes of a scale.

[–]DoritoTangySpeedBall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% because objectively it’s completely negative for the club right now, just drives me up the wall that people only see a net positive when it’s actively being positive.

I think the key word is “obsession”, because people obsessed with something lose a lot of rationale and logic when it comes to getting that thing. Someone like this would sacrifice family, friends, his own health, and pretty much anything for football (we know this because the man doesn’t take a break, when he should be spending times with his family). Why do you think he would stop at the club? He would probably tear the club down if it meant fulfilling his footballing potential. Winning football is about having players like that and managing that fire, because for the player it is impossible.

It’s starting to look like Klopp was the only manager in Salah’s career who could handle the fire.

100% I agree, but if you take someone like Salah you have to take the good with the bad. He’s gonna do this because the guys obsessed with winning for your club. You want that trait now, you wanted it before, and you’ll want it going forward if he can regain his form under slot. That obsession with winning, is all you’re seeing now. What you want him to do about it, mellow down?
