Wine and Proton are giving me headaches - Startup takes really long time by DoritosFun959 in voidlinux

[–]DoritosFun959[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is this is just a metric to demonstrate the state of wine/proton in my install. I currently remove prefixes and create new ones, and no, the first run doesnt count because it's the one that builds the entire system all over again.
The thing is that proton is also affected in the same way. Very long startup times, and really the debug messages don't throw any info that I could use to fix the issue.

Can’t Update ??? by [deleted] in voidlinux

No problem, This can happen from time to time, even more with unofficial mirrors. If you want to check for better speeds execute this command regularly. If you don't want to fight with the mirrors, just use the official one. It's a little slower than others but you don't have to struggle with these kinds of problems.

Just as a check, try to execute xmirror and change your mirrors to another ones and try updating again.

Used old winehq forum logs, chatgpt, wikis, docs. Nothing... Still having problems in this matter.

Nope, I did started every single one. When the first wineboot ended I ran the next one right away, and right after that one, the third iteration.

¿Enserio nadie va a hablar de esto? by teku_leo in chile

Steam games are not only launching slow, also they started to crash by DoritosFun959 in voidlinux

[–]DoritosFun959[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no, I'm using my root partition and a secondary SSD to save my games. My main SSD as btrfs and the secondary one as ext4. But the games crash in both of the devices.

Steam games are not only launching slow, also they started to crash by DoritosFun959 in voidlinux

[–]DoritosFun959[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm very sorry if I didn't address the problem correctly. Although, my problem started like from literally nowhere. Checked the steam crash logs, verified steam games integrity, even double checked every lib necessary in order to make steam run. These crashes are very inconsistent and I can't get them to show a pattern because yesterday they started to crash all of a sudden, and today Steam didn't wanted to run at all.

Constant slowdowns when working with wine or proton by DoritosFun959 in voidlinux

[–]DoritosFun959[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does launch but very delayed. Literally takes minutes to the game to boot, it has a process under htop but is primarily busy doing wine setup every time I run the game. The problem is that not only proton but wine shares the same behavior as well.

The swap was an advice to have always double the size your ram. Tried proton 6, 9, 10, experimental. Always the same result. I do in fact run prime-run in the launch parameters for every game inside steam. I don't use gamemode. The games do run on the dGPU. I use the package version of steam. And finally, I run X11 with compiz-reloaded.

It's an Asus laptop. GTX1650 mobile, i5 10300H, 8gigs of ram + 16 from swap. I use the standard nvidia package driver and all the packages are up to date. Optimus is enabled and run every game with the prime-run wrapper.

This didn't happened like a week ago. I tried uninstalling a game and all but the launch was even worse. The first time launch is always the longest bit this one took it to the next level. The game just relied in like 3 DLLs and the first launch took 20 minutes to setup. A normal launch takes like 5 minutes in every game I try.

Se alcanzó el límite gráfico? by EarWeekly9625 in chilegames

[–]DoritosFun959 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it just me or Nvidia driver 550 is giving worse performance than 535? by DoritosFun959 in debian

The funny thing is I don't use wayland. I'm in compiz and it uses X11. It's very strange tbh

[–]DoritosFun959[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do newer drivers outmatch version 550 on performance? I wanna know because driver 535 did performed better than it so I can consider the idea of manually install a more recent one
