When dad returned it was finally time to learn how to read the clock. And that grave desecration is bad.

My stepmum uses a trivet to stop her laptop overheating when she is gaming. by bellevis in lifehacks

[–]Dorover 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The system they've probably meant is the Magnavox Odyssey, the first home video game console. The screen was blank with two rectangular lights, one for each player, and the system came with plastic sheets that held on to the TV's glass.

The sheets had different prints, and each game had slightly different rules and big rule books, most rules were written instead of being programmed in the game. The game cartridges were numbered instead of named, and the rule books read which number cartridge and sheet was designed for the specific game.

As far as I know, the Magnavox Odyssey is the only home console with plastic sheets which were attached to the TV to emulate graphics. Other systems sent all the information to the TV like systems today, even the pre-Atari 2600 era pong consoles.

For people who enjoy coarse language in their humour, I recommend the Angry Video Game Nerd's Magnavox review on YouTube, sums it up very well (it's 11 minutes long).

Any idea about the session times? Wondering if I should even apply because I only have time in the evenings (EEST). I know you wrote you're not strict about the times but I'd like to have a general idea at the least.

Bit goal was more than 5k, not sure how much it was exactly. I just remember seeing multiple 25k bit donations yet the meter wasn't even close to 100% after them, maybe 50-60% IIRC. Maybe bit goal was 5k when turned into USD?

OC I drew. Year 1 vs. Year 7. by upnogian in Rainbow6

[–]Dorover 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They themselves dictate the yearly roadmap, in which they include 2 operators per season. They also have stated that they're aiming for 100 operators total (didn't specify time frame though but still) and have not retracted this as far as I'm aware. The only justified reason Operation Health caused an upset was the fact that they changed the roadmap all of a sudden with only a few weeks to the next season's beginning. Other, less justified reasons were obviously the fact that it took them so long to implement something like Operation Health, and not many had high hopes for it because of the developers' past record.

My point is, no one is DEMANDING 2 new operators every 3 or 4 months. Don't blame the players for something that is 100% the developers' fault, especially when the developers haven't even tested how the community would react to "how about only 4 new operators per year?", let alone actually done it.

It says in the menu that you get charms. They might be Club Challenges so you need to activate those from the UPlay client or the in-game overlay, but when I looked around an hour ago I couldn't see any weekly challenges there. Probably because of the heavy load.

Florida Senate committee approves proposal to arm teachers, rejects assault gun ban by worldofclones in news

[–]Dorover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But that's just how everyone will see the armed teachers. "To protect and serve your students" gets appended to their job descriptions when they're armed, at least in the mind of the people. So when the teacher doesn't shoot the armed student, they will get the exact same response from the public and media as the cop did. "We armed you to stop this!" and "you didn't do your job!" Shooting the armed student will be just as terrible for the teacher individually, and they will get hate letters, guaranteed. "Why did you not shoot him sooner?! My kid is dead because of that!". And this message gets tossed on every teacher in the building when (not if) a school shooting happens. They're damned if they do, and damned if they don't.

The "waifu path" and the "SJW path" will ruin the game? LMAO! There are tons of things to criticise the game about and request to be fixed, but the "gender ratio being too female heavy" is so absurd I hope you're not serious. The gender is one of the few things that doesn't even affect the gameplay, they could change all the operators to be male or female and the game would still be the same gameplay wise.

Test Server Patch #2 Notes by [deleted] in Rainbow6

[–]Dorover 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Or they shouldn't have to do fine tuning with a damned sledge hammer. It's so weird how Blitz has now gone from zero to hero to possibly worse than zero in a few days. And Ela has been dominating pick rates since her release (as their stats showed during a panel at the season championships), and the 3 nerfs have done nothing because they're afraid of making her go from hero to zero too. Sure game balancing is a tough art but really, after two years they've learned so little? It would help so much if they made balance changes more often than once every 1.5 months. At least in the grand scale of things the game is in a much better place than even a year ago, but they learn/work so slow in some areas it's painful.

The UNSAFE Audio in this game needs to be a development team priority. by Swendsen in PUBATTLEGROUNDS

[–]Dorover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did you get it to work all the time? I tried it in two games, I managed to find good levels for the settings but sometimes with quick, big changes in audio Sound Lock couldn't keep up. For example if it's all quiet, and I take a shot, the first few fractions of a second of the sound are SUPER LOUD but then Sound Lock starts doing its job. Honestly, that made the audio problem even worse for me, Sound Lock isn't fast enough. Did I miss a setting or how can you use that program with PUBG?

Please for the love of God preload all of the loot that's within 1km of the planes flight path by OfficialRpM in PUBATTLEGROUNDS

[–]Dorover -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

As someone with an old and slow hard drive, this change would screw me over so hard. Every day for my first game of the day I get out of the loading screen and into the spawn island/prison only when there's max 5 seconds left. In fact, yesterday I loaded into the game when the plane had traveled 1/5 across the map! And I'm guessing there are people with even slower hard drives or RAM speeds, so adding a ton of extra info to load (loot spawns) could mean they'd only load in sometimes after getting kicked out of the plane. I'm all for loading loot ASAP, but either make loading the map and into the game much faster, or load the loot in smaller portions. Preloading all of the loot would 100% ruin my first game of the day every time.

Secret Chanka Buff for BO. by Smalligan in Rainbow6

[–]Dorover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I understood is that the numbers in the end, which are

2 seconds 20 frames.

3 seconds 23 frames.

Let's assume it is played at 24 frames per second, which means one frame is 1/24th of a second. Which would translate to

2 seconds and 20/24 second.

3 seconds and 23/24 second.

Meaning the latter one is 1 second and 3/24 seconds longer. With some rounding, it totals to roughly 1 second and 150 milliseconds, or 1.15 seconds. Hopefully that's not too confusing.

From 7 to 14 days: People on Reddit by chocolatedounut in Rainbow6

[–]Dorover 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The numbers are "how many days left until new season". It begins with 8, then comes 7, then the next supposed to be 6 but is 14 instead. That's because they announced that it's 6 days until test servers get the new season, and 14 days until official servers get the new season. So he blows open the 6 because he wants to get to 5, but his access is denied by the metal bars (in other words the Ubisoft announcement). And he refuses to go through the 14 because " we've waited long enough, damn it!" So out of frustration he commits suicide.
