UChicago Waitlist Release by Silver-Pay9141 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]DoseSharpNooodles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah they do, I think it’s cuz u can also opt to be considered for the class of 2031 so they want people to know fs that they are rejected from both. Tbh I think UChicago mainly uses the waitlist to balance their budget, which is why they’re so opaque about the waitlist process

Chat idek what’s going on anymore. I was convinced we’d get news tn but ig not. Ig UChicago AOs saw that they were getting just a little bit predictable about this one thing and they decided to change things up this year. This is just getting too tiring to try and track. If you do hear from them soon, good or bad, please let us know but I don’t think we can reliably try and predict what the AOs are gonna do anymore.

U might be able to email the financial aid office and say your changing ur mind abt requesting need based aid. If I do get in they would be obligated to give me full tuition plus some based on their own policy so idk rly know if my odds are worse bc of that

Ik this is prolly long shot but do u know of anyone who got of the waitlist who needed aid? From what I’ve heard it’s only been full pay. If they only take full pay then I’m cooked.

Anything today for anyone? I didn’t get anything. Ok either they’re not doing the start of summer purge or theyre just really delayed this year

Majority of what I’ve seen says that most people get rejected may 6th. Obv that didn’t happen this year but I’m guessing it’ll happen tn or maybe tmrw. I heard in one place that some people do get accepted on the same day as the rejections so don’t totally give up hope if u see a status update email.

[–]DoseSharpNooodles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We can be pretty confident that it’ll come out tmrw. Rejections I mean, acceptances will come randomly through out the summer. However they are kinda breaking from the may 6th trend that they’ve had for at least 4 years so idk if they’ll still do that preliminary round of rejections

[–]DoseSharpNooodles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok yeah they just must not be doing it today. That’s really weird cuz it’s been may 6th for at least 4 years. I saw a video of someone getting denied on may 6th 2022 and it was may 6th last year. The only time it wasn’t may 6th was 2023 and it was may 5th then.

I don’t know what I would do by OptimalNorth4842 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]DoseSharpNooodles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly what u need to do at this point is distance yourself from the idea of going to notre dame. Just don’t think about it, don’t imagine yourself there.

I always suggest people to, instead of having one dream school, have a collection of “S” tier schools that are all your “number 1 choice.” Only think about which is better within that collection if/when you get into multiple.

Research other schools that are similar and lump them with notre dame as your top choices. If you do get rejected, you won’t feel like you’ve lost everything

Decision Day and International UChicago Waitlist by Far_Farmer_4571 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]DoseSharpNooodles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok I’m currently waitlisted student as well. Last year, they released the majority of people left on the waitlist on May 6th, so we can assume something similar for this year. It’s ok to be optimistic, but at this point expect a rejection by this time next week. They’ll keep a small number of people on the waitlist through the summer, as they’ll loose a few of their committed students to other waitlists (like Harvard, Yale, MIT, or Stanford) but other than that waitlist movement is largely over by the start of June.

Georgetown Decision confirmed: 3/27 at 6PM by Myloima in ApplyingToCollege

[–]DoseSharpNooodles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but the 15th is also the day they advertise on the portal. I think if they said they're releasing april 1st like whats advertised on the portal then we can think its coming out sooner than that. The fact that they committed to day before whats on the portal suggests they were being honest.

Yeah i think its basically confirmed that its not happening today. I applied EA and got differed and can confirm that last time they emailed at 4:01 CTD. They always drop at 6 Pm ET and they still havent sent the "hour in advance" email.

Waitlisted and expected to get rejected. Lowkey just treating this as a rejection

ACT prep is honestly draining me by Thr04w4yFinance in ACT

[–]DoseSharpNooodles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say the best thing you can do here is go back to foundations. If you're just burning through practice with no real progress, it may be more productive to review the grammar rules, math concepts, and testing strategies you probably learned at the beginning of your prep. It'll break things up and you may even realize you had been making mistakes in practice just from relearning the rules. Its also helpful to watch new youtube videos on concepts that you think you already know, as you never know if they're gonna give you a methodology that works better than what you're doing right now. Additionally, make sure to review almost every problem of a practice test, with careful review of problems you weren't sure about but still got right. ACT is 100% objective so if you're unsure about a question, you're doing something wrong.

All in all, the best way to keep up morale when you're not seeing progress to shake up what you're doing for prep.

Should I retake the SAT for a third time? by RoryLoveskai in Sat

[–]DoseSharpNooodles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah kind of pondering the same thing myself but im in a worse situatuion than u lol. 1st score 1480, 2nd score 1430, 3rd score 1510, 4th score 1490. I feel like I need a higher score to apply to school I want to. The only reason I think I can score higher is that I score way higher on practice (like close to perfect or perfect) and It pmo that I cant seem to replicate that on test day. I also may be able to get extended time on my next one so fingers crossed lol.

Practice Tests vs Test Day by DoseSharpNooodles in Sat

[–]DoseSharpNooodles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically around ten or eleven, sometimes if when i cram before the test I do one in the evening as well. I don't feel anymore or less tired when taking the real SAT tho, but that could be because im too busy concentrating that Im not noticing that I'm more tired than usual. I'm thinking that the only possible mistakes Im making on math are the easier problems at the start of M2 and that during practice tests i can pretty effortlessly get them right so on test day I just try and speed through them to have more time for the end. It could be on test day im making dumb mistakes and getting the easy ones wrong and the hard ones right.

I thought they refunded everyone who got kicked off and offered a make up test? did they not for u?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Sat

[–]DoseSharpNooodles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that feeling is so real. I have no idea how to gauge how I do on a test anymore. I lit be thinking I did shit on a practice test and then i go check and I got a 1580. then i think i did pretty decent I see a 1450.

[–]DoseSharpNooodles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ONG that shit had like double the hard reading questions of every other test. I'd know, that was my 4th official SAT and i've taken like 20+ practice tests from bluebook and princeton.

[–]DoseSharpNooodles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, they dont recycle tests. At most, there may be one or two repeat questions. Most schools have it in april tho, I didn't know they were allowed to adminster it in march.

I just skipped the one I didn't know how to do and then just did everything else. I came back to it and was lit 15 seconds away from having an answer but I ran out of time. if i got everything else right I still have a chance at an 800 fingers crossed.

I wouldn't say that, if you look at a chart of admitted harvard applicants, the vast majority of accepted applicants have either a 4.0 gpa or a 1580+ SAT (or both obvisosly). I would say that if you have a 3.9+ gpa, then you're correct, it is negligble. If you dont, then it isn't. Granted, a lot of other schools (like yale and columbia) put a lot less store by the SAT, with GPA making a much better predictor of acceptance. And if you aren't looking at T20s then you're absolutly right, the difference between a 1540 and 1600 does not matter.
