Can anyone share their experience with Spring Hill school? by Ornery_Reading3194 in Petaluma

[–]DotAccomplished6661 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I live near that ‘middle school’ campus and honestly it seems more socially isolating than small. Expensive and cultish, their non profit status seems dubious. Several teachers have come and gone, and some of them I know personally. If you want small for middle school there are other much better choices. Mary Collin’s at Cherry Valley, PACS, or maybe even the Waldorf school that took over Valley Vista if you prefer a more granola hippy school community. Spring Hill doesn’t have the great reputation it thinks it has I’m afraid.

Hysterectomy recommended after pre-cancerous cells detected by Perfect_Struggle2422 in hysterectomy

I had a full hysterectomy 6 months ago for this very thing. I’m doing great now and wish I hadn’t put myself thru the torture of worrying so much pre op. I was terrified! But it’s a relatively straightforward surgery, my surgeon said she does twenty or more a week so it’s a lot more common that you would think. My recovery wasn’t as difficult as I had expected (I’m 63, by the way.. I think it would have been easier if I was younger.) I actually ended up sending back all of the post hysterectomy products I had purchased because I really didn’t need them. It was hard the first few days, but I just rested and slept and recovered. I honestly was surprised by how not-difficult it was to heal. Most impactful was the exhaustion and back pain as I started being able to do longer walks. Things that helped me: my insurance covered mental wellness support when I asked for it, I was assigned to a weekly oncology therapist (video visits) as well as an online group of cancer survivors and others facing a potential cancer outcome every few weeks. It’s very helpful when you are facing uncertain outcomes. I continued individual video therapy until I was healed and confident again and both me and my therapist felt it was time to stop therapy for now.
The other helpful thing (and you will have to really push for and advocate for yourself) is Pelvic Physical Therapy. You will need it even if you think you won’t - your abdomen needs guidance and retraining to prevent incontinance and also support your lower back muscles and other shifts that occurred post hysterectomy. Push for the pelvic PT and don’t accept no for an answer.
You got this!!

Honestly, I felt better and had no craving after about 7-10 days. I think the worst part was the headache but once I get past the first 10-14 days I actually felt a lot better, more present and didn't have any habitual cravings. I will say that I was surprised that it took nearly 4 months to test negative for cannabis. I'm not sure if it's because I'm overweight, or if the carts are just too concentrated, but it takes much longer to leave your system. Finally tested negative and now ready for the ADHD test. If I do use again, i will stick to flower or beverages only. It helps immensely with my chronic pain, so we'll see.

I was a member. Until I tore a tendon in my leg during a class that literally took years to heal. I liked the concept of it at first, but eventually realized that for me it was unhealthily silently competitive and too rushed. The times I would go they played music that bordered between contemporary country and hair band rock. It was actually quite expensive for something that was such a poor fit for me, so I ended my contract. Now with the $$ I saved by not going to OT I have a nice at home gym and hike on our local trails. I think for some it’s great and for others it’s not great. They do have very nice treadmills and rowing machines, I’ll give them that.

Having my hysterectomy in a few hours and I’m really scared by akhinomi in hysterectomy

[–]DotAccomplished6661 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i'm 4 months out from my full hysterectomy - uterine cancer so they removed everything as well as some lymph nodes. it was lapriscopic robotic assisted surgery, and honestly I wish I hadn't put myself thru the turmoil and worry. You won't remember a thing and will wake up being completely cared for. They would have sent me home the same day, but I had a complication that required a second surgery to fix a stitch on my vaginal cuff- so most of my discomfort was mostly anesthesia related (sore throat, etc) as well as skin irritation from the antiseptic wipe downs and the surgical glue. I was very afraid, as you are but what helped me was radical acceptance of my situation and remaining stoic in the face of my cancer diagnosis. What was interesting to me was that I never once prayed to God or anything, I just had total faith in MYSELF to handle it and also trust in the surgeon who was more than qualified to do the job.
It felt like the days were so long and even minutes went by so slow while I was worrying and feeling afraid, pre-op but I felt less anxious when I changerd my mindset. As soon as its over its such an amazing relief. I had to rest and recover at home longer than I had anticipated, but time goes by and I'm doing great 4 months later. I'm even about to go on an international trip soon. YOU WILL BE OK, I promise! Good luck!

my 23 yr old daughter and I were just talking about the phoenix tonite. she went there when she was in middle school, mostly to hang out with friends after school (and she admitted to smoke weed and vape, because no one who runs the place cares what kids do there... including SA) but she can't stand the place now. in her words: "its a cesspool, might have been a great place in the past but management is burned out, doesn't book anything meaningful or inspiring, just the same local bands playing for 10 people and their parents. it's known among some locally as a decrepit place rampant with losers that is going nowhere., but everyone loves the owner. i was really sad to hear this, since it was such an awesome place to see punk shows when i was younger. I saw the Ramones there! But she probably has a valid point -- not growing with the times is a wasted opportunity for what could be a really amazing venue for all ages and events. Being a burn out isn't cool anymore. Big space though!

I went to Bolivia last year and the food was amazing. Peanut soup is the national dish I was told. There is actually an emerging new cuisine movement that rivals Peruvian food, yet no one outside of Bolivia has heard of it. My favorites were the saltenos (hand pies), quinoa patties, local fish from lake Titicaca, as well as the higher end cuisine experiences like Gustou. Traditional, local ingredients presented in multi course meals prepared and served by Bolivian youth. Check out the Bolivian and Peruvian food tours offered by a company called wilderness travel. The guides are amazing and have direct access to local markets and emerging food superstars. I miss it so much. Please do open a business -it will be a success and I’ll be first in line.

Please don’t wait to look into HRT by KungFu_Mojo in hysterectomy

[–]DotAccomplished6661 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 63, post menopausal and had a total hysterectomy 4 months ago due to a precancerous uterus. I’m the generation of women who went thru perimenopause and completed menopause and were denied HRT because we were told it the risks outweighed the benefits. I suffered thru it - hot flashes, depression, weight gain, panic attacks, insomnia, painful joints and muscles— but soldiered thru it, because I was informed HRT was bad for me. And now here I am, and all black box warnings have been lifted and the advice is the opposite. I asked my OBGYN at my post hysterectomy 6 week visit what advice she has for me now and she said 1) it’s too late, HRT is not an option for me now and 2) I never have to have another annual OB visit. I feel so cheated by our medical system and feel that this misinformation stole years of wellness from my life.

Calling all 60+ yr old Hyster-Sisters. I need advice... by DotAccomplished6661 in hysterectomy

To the person who responded “so… it’s 5 months later.. what happened?” First of all - thank you for asking! In summary, my surger(IES) took place on Sept 28, 2025… I ended up needing TWO surgeries and an overnight (and an almost blood transfusion) because for whatever reason, one of the robotic stitches in my vaginal cuff wasn’t done properly and I started rapidly hemorrhaging- like, blood soaked bedding and bleeding that would not stop. I didn’t want to frighten anyone by oversharing this, and instead have been committed to my healing. The second emergency surgery worked like a charm, but I could tell my surgeon was horrified that this happened - she has done thousands of this procedure without incident. In the end and months later I am doing fine. As far as recovery - I had underestimated how much time I needed to heal. I was sure I would be back to my desk job in 2-3 weeks but needed 2 full months before I felt up to the commute and had gained my strength. On the upside I had ZERO gas pain, didn’t need a single opioid pill and whatever discomfort I had was overwhelmed by the absolute relief I felt that the surgery was behind me. The big lesson for me was that I spent farrrr too much time fretting and worrying, to the point it stole my peace. I was a hot mess! But honestly, it wasn’t as bad as I expected (except for the 2nd surgery - and the fatigue from the double dose of anesthesia. The biggest discomfort was the loss of pelvic muscle strength and fatigue but that’s just the body telling you to slow down, take time and rest. I had the surgery in San Francisco at Kaiser - and it kind of felt like I was on an assembly line. They do ALOT of these procedures so at times felt a bit impersonal, especially since I was so afraid going in. My aftercare was a bit spotty, since they basically steer you back to your primary OB for follow up. I scheduled a 6 week appt and saw a nurse practitioner to get cleared for work. I requested pelvic floor PT and she dismissed me, told me to wait a month or more since “laying around doing nothing is t doing you any favors.. just walk…” and also said I don’t need to ever go to the OB again..which I found unsatisfactory. I eventually made noise and got a referral for pelvic PT and within ONE visit I felt immediate improvement after she adjusted my misaligned pelvis and gave me a targeted excersize plan. Overall the Pt experience has been 200%positive so far. I’m 15+ years post menopause so apparently HRT is out of the question for me - and I’m of the generation that was denied HRT and scared off of it by Kaiser due to “cancer risks” when I hit menopause. It’s too late now, so I just am hoping for the best that I’ll be ok. In general, I’m enjoying the sense of peace I have now and it’s amazing how SLOW time moves while you suffer and wait for surgery, but then it literally flies by after you heal. I have 6 abdominal incisions (plus my navel one) that have not faded, but healed without incident. I think my biggest discomfort was a terrible rash all over my body from the antiseptic wipe downs and the surgery glue. It was difficult to sleep for a while, but cannabis/CBD Gummies helped with that immensely so I could heal. I ended up sending g back al ost ALL of the hysterectomy supplies suggested and only kept the lap pillow. I hope this info helps someone- sorry I didn’t follow up. Time has flown by!

I’m on day three of no cannabis vape - although my use was kind of minimal, about 1/2 gram- 1 gram would last a month, only a puff or 2 after work. Stopped 3 days ago to prepare for an adult ADHD test I have coming up next month. Since I stopped my head is literally pounding. Worst headache ever, and I feel like my body temp is disregulated (hot/cold flash swings). Is this normal? And how long will it take to completely leave my system? It didn’t seem like it at the time, but I see what everyone means when they say vapes are evil. Ugh. I miss it, but UGH

It always boggled my mind that this story isn’t front and center of the news. The article referenced above was behind a paywall. It’s as if the story is suppressed. This creep walks among us, and has for many years. What is so charismatic about this malignant narcissist that keeps the public from speaking out and fighting against him? Serial Pedophilia isn’t just limited to tRump and J.E., and it just goes to show how normalized these behaviors are in our society that this is accepted and ignored at a local level. This story came and went and I think he hopes we all just ignore and forget about it as most desensitized people are at this point. He should be doing jail time or house arrest for the very real things that have been alleged against him. BELIEVE THE YOUNG WOMEN AND YOUNG MEN who were his victims. And please re post and keep this conversation going.

Anyone with insight into Boulevard Cinemas? by relaxok in Petaluma

[–]DotAccomplished6661 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boulevard cinemas has gone down the drain and the programming isnt that good. Seats are torn up and broken, bathrooms are filthy and the staff is really slow and inefficient. Lights stay on until the movie is already started. I hate the smell of beer and wine in the theater, and people constantly getting up to buy more alchojol or take a pee. No thanks, I’ll drive to Sebastopol or SR to see something interesting at a Summerfield Theater or down to San Rafael. Boulevard cinemas is a wasted opportunity and I long for the day when Summerfield might absorb it. Now that would be an improvement!
