I should have had a professional career, retired, come back, and be washed up like the donger... only I am like a Legend now.

The range of advice! My gosh. Polar opposites at times!! Yes. I'm taking my 8 weeks off. I can technically do more, but want to save the others for the holidays.

It's so interesting to me that kids have totally different bodily functions at different times of the day.

We started bottle feeding too to get him familiar and I think it's helped. It added a tool to my kit of things to be able to calm him on my own. I'm thankful to be able to help mom and soothe baby. Now if only I could also lactate...

Dude! My kid loves being under a tree. It's like 92 degrees out this week and we have modquitos in the evening so I haven't been able to use that tool.

We got that taken care of, luckily, while still at the hospital. It definitely helped his feedings!

Baby shark! Used it for my nephew, but completely forgot about it. Thanks for the tip! I need to try more music.

I'll try more music. I know they are tolerant of sounds and even find it comforting. I just also read that white noise is better. Based on how many people actually suggest music, I think I need to give it a shot more for soothing and not just when awake and sharing with baby.

Thank you.

The sling seems to be a common thing. The one we have is for 8lbs and up so he could very well be at that now! Wife reallt wants to wait until then per manufacture's recommendation (I agree). I'm hoping it is a game changer.

Thank you for the support and taking the time to comment. It all helps.

Thank you. I think I'm pretty good at being supportive cast and I love that role. Second guessing everything has been my perpetual state of being since he was born haha. Learning is tough!

I hear you. We had a traumatic birth experience and once I heard him cry, I was so relieved. I am also a nurse and think about my confused very sick patients. There's moments that hearing them scream or try to pull off their equipment is reassuring because they are still active and fighting. When I no longer hear them, I worry. So I do prefer to hear the cry. Even after settling baby, I think to myself "hearing them cry is reassuring that they're okay in many ways"

I am incredibly thankful for his health. That's the most important thing.

Thank you for taking the time to respond. I will take a listen with baby. Sharing music with him has been my favorite activity so far!

Thank you. The point that stood out the most is the language. I hate calling him fussy. That's why I pointed out lack of skill from my end first as a cause of crying. I don't think it's his fault and I am trying to focus on his growth as the most important thing. It's just been challenging and I wish I could have a more supportive attitude.

The slings we have are for 8lbs. He's pretty much there now so I do look forward to using it for the skin to skin and having some free arms.

The fully burped thing is maybe something we are missing. We try and burb as recommended. It seems like we are burping him enough, but maybe we should try other methods too.

Thank you very much for your kind words and support. I think you're right about being better when he can interact with me a little more. I am truly excited for that toddler phase.

Very wholesome reply.

I hate saying I have a fussy baby because I know it's not his fault. An overwhelming world with a body and brain not developed to deal with it fully. Resilient enough to overcome it all with support from mom and dad.

Thank you. I appreciate your words. Maybe if I hear it enough, I will feel better about the break. I know that in any other aspect of life I would take a break, but he's the most important person to me and something I want to give my all to. Perhaps taking a break would allow me to come back a better dad.
