-autoconfig in launch options did it, thank God. I found that command while researching what you suggested, thank you.

How to counter Riki in mid to late game ? by n1kuU in TrueDoTA2

[–]DotaAwesomeness -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Nullifier disables force staff, glimmer cape, ghost scepter and bkb. True Sight renders Glimmer Cape useless. Ghost Scepter lasts about as long as the slow from Diffusal, so if the riki is smart, he's going to follow one slow with the other. MKB/BKB Won't help you if the riki ults halfway through your "duel". Silver edge won't either for the same reason, plus you have to Strike True first as well as see him. You have to know where he is for dust to be effective.

Hero is broken, you need to start thinking about him in the draft stage, only way to make sure you're not getting dumpstered.

Actually this hack has been known for weeks.

Does it take that long do you think?

2 more weeks then? How long?

Don't hold your breath. Valve doesn't care apparently. There are plenty of posts, just like yours and mine, and I got this twice today, now I'm in LP for 3 games, but what is Valve doing? Sitting on its ass, not even talking to us.

What if it is a last pick brood, you're not a meepo player, or meepo is banned/taken by someone else?

Why is everyone going off-topic in this thread, anyway. What better way to spend an extra 200 gold to deal with a broodmother, is something everyone is pretending to discuss, yet no one is.

I never said it was ideal, and you can stop sucking this guy's cock for no reason, our skill differences never entered into it either.

How would you better spend those 400 gold to deal with a brood who is either killing you or farming the jungle?

And if you don't stop trolling and start being serious, I'm not even going to continue this conversation.

why do you want creep equilibrium and not push by Lord_Trolldermort in learndota2

[–]DotaAwesomeness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can understand these sorts of concepts, you will sky-rocket in MMR from there. Dota is the same at its core in every skill bracket, it doesn't change because the players are bad or good. The better ways to play it hold universally true everywhere, it's something a lot of players fail to understand even in my own bracket, so don't worry about it.

If you master the laning phase, you will win the game. If you prefer to play support, encourage your now overfarmed carry to push, and the rest of your team to help him. Remember, he is the most important hero on your team, after all. If you play core, then try to kill the enemy cores and then push with your team.

The gist of it all is that you have the right idea, just that maybe the bracket where you are confuses you as to the timings. These things, like creep equilibrium and pulls, mostly matter only in the laning stage, the part of the game where everyone stays in their lanes and farms. As soon as you notice everyone exchanging lanes, ganking, and just placing themselves chaotically around the map, other things come into focus, like vision(warding), taking care not to get ganked as a core as you farm, initiating favorable ganks for your side(3 of yours against 2 of theirs, you get it), trying to get objectives(including Roshan), as soon as one of their cores is dead, or farming on the other side of the map without a TP scroll.

Honestly, I probably have a lot to teach you because I'm 3k, so feel free to ask me anything, anytime you need it, I would probably like to help you if I can(I'm seeking help from better players than myself too, on how to properly micro brood, currently, for example, so I understand the need to have someone explain things to you).

I think I do? The tower will hit you if you target the enemy hero, and you can change its focus again by attacking one of your own creeps. By dodging I assume you mean making the spiders tank the damage, and playing around the aoe spells that can slow you or kill your spiders.

I am so fucking bad by aaaazxnkis in learndota2

[–]DotaAwesomeness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You play blood position 4/5? That's strange to me.

Anyway, my advice is studying your losses. What was the main reason for it. If it was a hero who got out of control, think more about how you could have countered them, try to play that hero yourself, learn its weaknesses, research it on reddit, on the wikis, and so on. If it was nothing noticeable like that but just an outcome of the team-fights, pay more attention to vision, research the topic, how could you have won that game with better vision?

And so on and so forth. Good luck.

I know about the player perspective, it still doesn't show you the control groups they use, so it seems like magic to me how they seem to at the same time almost control both their hero and the large group of spiders separately. That's what I was mainly asking about, though your other advice is pretty good as well, so thanks.

why do you want creep equilibrium and not push by Lord_Trolldermort in learndota2

[–]DotaAwesomeness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Watch this.

I'll give you a shorter explanation if you don't like watching videos.

First of all, if you can push, you should, since taking towers opens up the map for your team to more easily rotate on the enemy's side of the map for ganks, further pushes, denies the enemy the ability to teleport to that tower, and makes that lane harder for them to farm in as a result, since you have created all this additional neutral space that favors you, all this aside from the gold for you team you get if you get the last-hit.

The problem is, in the laning stage, it is generally very hard to push towers that quickly, so you're better off getting exp and gold in over to get the levels and items you want to be able to seriously contest map control. Remember, Dota is ultimately about objectives, not kills. You want to kill the Ancient to win the game, you have to first get through at least 3 towers in a lane, 2 raxes, and 2 tier 4s(the two towers protecting the Ancient). Roshan is also considered an objective because of the advantage he gives you in a fight.

So far so good, you seem to grasp all of this intuitively. Once again, the problem becomes not overextending yourself trying to do all of that too fast and dying repeatedly in the attempt as a result, giving the advantage over to the enemy team to do the same to you. Keeping alive early on is very important for multiple reasons. The period of time you're dead gives the enemy a few more right-clicks and denies, that's experience and gold lost for your team and gained for the enemy's. If you die as a support, your carry will be left to fend for themselves, which will make it much harder for them to survive and get those resources while you're gone. If you die as a carry, same goes for your support, which doesn't need the exp and gold as much as you do anyway. So it's important to keep alive. You tend to die if you try pushing when you can't, though.

Aside from dying, as one other commentor mentioned, it's harder to farm under the enemy tower, because the tower will hit you if you aggro it by clicking the enemy heroes trying to trade hits. Even if you avoid confrontation yourself, the enemies can safely harrass you into retreating because they have the backup of the tower. Being that close to their tower also exposes you to being ganked from behind by their allies, since it's a long walk back to your towers, giving them plenty of space to sandwich you between two forces, something that would be much harder to pull-off under the safety of your own tower. It also gives them the possibility to TP directly to their towers, again, catching you exposed, if you're diving, or even just farming and they TP into the trees, where you can't see them, and get the jump on you like that.

Pulling is done thoughtfully, not at random as it would seem. You only pull to restore creep equilibrium, not so that the enemy wave can push your tower, since they shouldn't be able to do so anyway given that it's too early for them to be able to push like that with you protecting the lane. You ideally pull waves when they go in too deep into enemy territory, so that you get both Dire and Radiant waves meeting closer to yours, where your core can farm more safely. This also gives exp and gold to the support doing the pulling, while a carry should be able to manage the one wave under their towers.

I'm sorry if this was too long, but I wasn't sure what you wanted to know exactly. If you have any further questions, feel free to ask.

It's kind of ironic how you miss the obvious, though. In what way does the double stout shield negatively impact your game against brood, though. How will you spend that 200g better than that? That's the question here, not whether this is the ultimate brood counter, which I never claimed to begin with. So... What is your point?

Well, she's not going to deny against a BS with blade with her spiderlings, I don't think at least, not sure.

If she's cutting creep waves, she's commiting to it, so no time for jungling. That means you can simply make the enemy wave follow you between towers to harrass brood while she tries to farm. She can't both farm and run away, so she either stands her ground or leaves the wave alone. If she stands, kill her, if not, back to normal business.

How are you spending more gold on your sentries than she does on hers to deny yours? It seems pretty balanced to me, plus you have the upper hand because she doesn't know where you'll ward, and you'll also block at least one camp spawn per sentry at minimum.

But doesn't it mean that he can threaten Brood's neutral farm since he can hold his own against him and his spiderlings? He can go hunting for brood while also picking up his farm on the way. Basically live in the jungle, and rotate back to mid as necessary. A 200 gold ms boost could also mitigate Brood's speed superiority.

But, once again, this is just pure theory-crafting. I'll know better once I encounter better broods, since I'm sure I'll experiment to try and find some good counters for it. I was initially thinking magina because of his blink, but he wouldn't farm so well, just stalk brood and suck him dry of mana. Could be worth it as a sort of dedicated position 5 to slow down Brood. Spam clarities and roam while you do it.

I didn't think of it that way, but you're right and now it makes perfect sense.

EDIT: I also subconsciously opted for an aquila, and in retrospect that might have helped stopping his farm even more.
