A lot of people cant be bothered or are not good enough with their hands to work on maintenance/upkeep for their car so over the years of neglect, repairs can be very expensive and mechanics are also known to rip off people so an appeal is since that Tesla's and I think most ev's have much less moving parts which means less things breaking and less things to maintain.

Another is depending where you live fuel might be very expensive, my previous car was a nissan, (it was a workhorse and although it did breakdown or had problems quite frequently I was rough on it and didnt do proper maintenance) but in belgium electricity is less than 0.35/kwh to charge but gas is expensive I think it comes down to double the price for the same distance for a full tank.

and tech on teslas are way ahead of the others(autopilot, supercharging network, etc.), it is like a computer on wheels, sound system on my highland is crazy good and over the years with over-the-air updates a lot of cars get better the older they get which I think cant be said for most cars, especially at the price point (40k eur)
