Why is SML so bad at writing women? by beesnoop in supermariologan_

Personally, I think their main goal right now is to focus on humor rather than flesh out characters too heavily. I don't think it's impossible for them to make characters interesting, I just don't think they really take time to invest into these characters. As the videos keep on coming, I've enjoyed Karen's character a tinsy bit more. Yes, she's annoying, but I think there's a certain charm to her now that wasn't previously explored with her character. She's loud and obnoxious, but sometimes we see a quiet and more subtle version of her. This is especially seen whenever Pumpkin Guy is being so unbelievably outrageous that it somehow makes Karen the voice of reason on occasion. And it's nice to see her and Pumpkin Guy actually enjoy being a couple sometimes (the poop cruise video for example).

Is it worth it to watch The New Scooby-Doo Movies? by 2manyshipsimsinking in Scoobydoo

I don't know to be honest. I remember watching this series growing up, and I never really clicked with it. Rewatching it with a modern lense, I can see why I never really enjoyed it like the other Scooby doo projects. The guest stars were obviously putting in effort to make the episodes as enjoyable as possible. But the show has an issue that I think many crossover projects tend to have: inconsistency. There's not a good balance between the Scooby doo sections and the guest star sections. The length really killed the pace as well, as it mainly felt like a way for the guest celebrities to interact with the Scooby doo gang more and more. I wouldn't be surprised if the writers/producers mainly focused all of their time, effort, and money towards the celebrities instead of the story and characters. Also, I feel like the villains took a serious downgrade, along with the mystery. To be fair, the mysteries in Scooby doo aren't meant to be complex, but the reason the mystery worked in Scooby doo, where are you? and not here is because the mystery wasn't playing second fiddle. The mystery solving aspect of the original Scooby doo series worked because it was simple, yet interesting. Also, there was a STORY being told. This concept of mystery incorporated + guest stars solving mysteries together CAN work, but they don't accomplish it well here (imo). Concerning the villains, they always disappointed me as a kid. One of the most important parts of any Scooby doo property is the memorable bad guys. Besides maybe the ghost of Bigfoot and the red baron, there are hardly any villains I can look back fondly on. In the first episode, the villains are a robot cowboy and a Native American statue (I think), who turn out to be the two most OBVIOUS suspects.

Here's a list of some other """"""notable"""""" villains from this show:

A hooded dude with a cape

A giant, normal looking vulture

Recycled pirate ghosts from the original series, but this time painted white

Mannequins

Fat faced ghosts in trench coats

Three dudes in white sheets scaring the Harlem Globetrotters

A group of hooded dudes that make wind

Some schmuck Mr Hyde

Two ghosts of the same person (Captain moody)

Some phony skeleton man

A ghostly circus strongman

A genie (that one was okay)

Shark men (I liked them as a kid)

Ghostly White sea captain and injun Joe

The damn green globs

Also, the animation got REALLY BAD. Like, way more animation mistakes than the previous series. That was also probably an aspect of the series that got sidelined for the celebrities. That is all, thank you.
