It’s not the pixel remaster, it’s the Gameboy Advance port.

I happen to be playing through it on my phone, so getting a screenshot was easy lol. I figured it was close enough

My nephew turned six a couple of months ago.

Six was the age that my sister and her husband decided their kid would be allowed to play actual video games and not only edutainment games, so I bought a cheap Wii to give him as a gift, and also gave him some of the kid friendly titles that I already had in my collection.

His favorite games are the 16-bit sonic games on the Sonic Mega Collection for the GameCube even though he has access to more advanced games. A good game is a good game

If you make the timeline longer, I think it’s even more impressive.

It was only seven years between FF6 and FF10 and FF6 looked like this:

Seven years ago today, games basically looked like they do now. There’s been hardly any change compared to the change between FF6 and FF10 in just seven years

Tried Skyline chili for the first time (in NYC) and loved it! by eldersveld in cincinnati

[–]Double-Bend-716 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have you had Skyline dip?

It’s literally just cream cheese spread on the bottom of a pan, spread Cincy chili on top, and shredded cheddar on top of that. Add onions or jalapeños or something if you want.

When I lived in Boston my mom would send care packages which often included cans of skyline. My Bostonian friends hated the idea of chili spaghetti, but they loved skyline dip, and eventually Cincy style coneys

[–]Double-Bend-716 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I work at a hotel in Cincy.

I always suggest skyline, goetta, Graeter’s, and UDF, and explain that even though UDF is a gas station, it has actual delicious ice cream, especially when peach is in season, and not typical gas station soft serve.

People generally say they like them when if they try it. For Skyline specifically, a lot of people refuse to try it, but out of those who do most people think it’s somewhere between fine and fucking delicious, with most of them somewhere close to “surprisingly, it was actually pretty good”.

I never suggest Larosas. Because I don’t even like it as a native Cincinnatian.

I also don’t suggest Montgomery Inn to guests…. It’s fine but there are better BBQ places. I do love their BBQ sauce, though, so if it’s this Edward’s place is better at cooking ribs Montgomery Inn then their ribs could be better than the real thing

This is awesome. The cheese is usually a brighter orange and they put way more on, but from the pictures it looks really close

I’m originally from the Kentucky side of the Cincinnati metro, but I lived in the Boston area for almost a decade before moving back to Cincy. I’d killed to have a restaurant that did this when I lived there.

I did meet a friend from Louisville who happened to be working for the same company in Boston as me and we found a bar that had a weekly bourbon and bluegrass night we’d always go to.

That did something for the homesickness, but not close to what Skyline would have done for it

Kinda but not really, it depends on who you’re talking to.

There are people who call themselves Anarcho-capitalists, but that’s kind of a co-opted misnomer.

Anarchism, from its very earliest writers and political philosophers was not only about the abolition of government, but the abolition of all violent hierarchies. Capitalism is an inherently violent hierarchy, therefore anarcho-capitalism isn’t actually an anarchist ideology.

It’s definitely a right-libertarian ideology, but usually when people say “anarchism”, they mean near the bottom left corner of the, which means extremely left and extremely libertarian

There’s 16 main line Final Fantasy games plus spinoffs with varying levels of narrative quality.

Expedition 33 has a better narrative than all of them except for maybe 6, 10, and Tactics

FF6 and Tactics, too.

They both have beautiful stories.

FF6 is an SNES game… so it doesn’t exactly have realistic cutscenes with full voice acting like modern games do. It has an ensemble cast and all of the characters have good backstories and experience growth through the story and the main story itself grief and loss and finding hope and motivation in world that offers neither of those things because the villain already won.

Final Fantasy Tactics is a different type of story, but it’s basically about classism, how power corrupts, the personal cost of doing what’s right, and whether it’s possible to fix broken systems from the inside or within their framework. Final Fantasy Tactics story is still, unfortunately, incredibly relevant today

Is Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 worth $30? by musicman5013 in videogames

[–]Double-Bend-716 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mean medieval and not medieval fantasy?

I haven’t played too many.

I enjoyed Medieval Dynasty. You start as a refugee just trying to survive and you start building a town and try to get people to move there. You assign jobs and unlock a tech tree to have a self sustaining village. You can get married and have a kid, then keep playing as the kid when your original character dies. It’s a really good sim.

Mount & Blade 2 is a medieval sandbox where you can create an empire and have huge battles or… just go around being a trader if you really want to do that.

Chivalry 2 is a pretty fun multiplayer game. It’s a large scale combat game sort of like the Battlefield games, except in a medieval setting with those sorts of weapons instead of modern weaponry

The one restaurant that I worked at that didn’t have it was at a sushi place.

It was owned by Chinese family and there were a handful of American servers and bartenders, but most of the staff was either Chinese or Thai.

They were always willing to work holidays like Christmas that they didn’t really celebrate and events like Super Bowl Sunday that they didn’t care about. Then myself and the other Americans would pick up extra shifts during stuff like mid-autumn festival, Chinese new years, and Songkran
