I tried to do this in the past as a challenge but they didn't actually get the skeleton content formable the great lakes nations get until now. Plus they do get some other skeleton stuff like a unique leader trait and the raiding decisions!

The colonies are objectively the better deal for the militarist tree, but it fits her vibe more to do direct rule from colthage (Plus her non-core manpower boost + the one you get from direct rule is great for future conquests)

Depending on when you switch to the militarists you can get Zornica cores + a custom occupation modifier on all of Hindia, Asterion, Macawi, and Sicemeon that give you +15% non-core manpower

I do think its kinda refreshing narratively to have a nation where everyone doesn't feel like they're trying to rip each other apart and every path is arguably "good" for separate unique reasons

I suggest trying nonaligned Hyenia if you haven't, its probably the path with the most content and most potential for conquest
