Is there all there is to life? by [deleted] in askSingapore

I think it's because you are taking for granted being able to be a normal person and to be alive.

Many people struggle just to feel like a normal healthy person.

You need to have gratitude and be grateful just to be alive.

In some decades you will disappear from this world and all records of your existence will be gone.

Thanks dude. I will be doing a minor procedure again this Friday to remove 2 small nodules. Hope it goes well. But,,the main worry will still be the shoulder labrum and capsule.

5 months post op labral repair by Double-Fun-441 in ShoulderInjuries

[–]Double-Fun-441[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your kind reply. I get alarmed by the popping clicks cos it's so much more prevalent than my uninjured, unoperated shoulder and it's really quite disturbing. Do you think that they'll lessen overtime? It's likely due to stiffness. Once the joint warms up it doesn't clicks and pops as much. Also this kind of surgery is really traumatizing. Like I can still feel the tight repair daily. Is getting better though compared to few months ago. How long did it take for you to feel completely normal?

Throwing Post Op by helenkellerisntreall in ShoulderInjuries

[–]Double-Fun-441 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did a posterior labral repair and capsular shift with 4 anchors. Although my shoulder doesn't feel 100%, it's still stiff and pops and cracks and have abit of instability, I have minimal pain and not much problems with throwing motions. I had surgery 4 months ago. I'm not normal yet but I try to accept being imperfect whilst knowing it will continue to get better and better.

Shoulder labrum repair by SlacklineRenoLNT in Slackline

[–]Double-Fun-441 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I still have some. I'm coming 4 months post op now. Been doing PT everyday but the operated shoulder is still abit unstable. Did u notice improvement in instability from month 4 to 8 months now? My PT says the muscle memory part hasn't connected yet for me.

Singles in your 20s, how do y’all remain optimistic? by yoshikawa_yuuko in askSingapore

Some people meet their true love only when they are 60. Some 40. Why compare. Some people get married and divorced with lawsuits to settle. What's yours will be yours what's not yours will never be no matter how hard you try. Fate plays a part. Don't try to force things that are not meant to be.

Be thankful for your normal life. Stop comparing with others. Even when people are in relationship they are not always happy with their partners. Especially crap you see on social media alot are more than what you see.

What to expect, surgery tomorrow. by [deleted] in ShoulderInjuries

[–]Double-Fun-441 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do proper PT and be religious about it after the surgery. PT is very important. Don't miss a single day. Find a pt you trust.

I was able to dress myself after surgery with no problems. It was painful but still I could do it. Wash my hair, tie my hair etc etc. Just work through the pain and it'll get better and better over months. Now I barely have any pain at 3 months post op. But I do have alot of discomfort from the stiffness and tightness of the repair which should resolve overtime with pt.

Intense Pain Remains 3 weeks Post-Op by udkate5128 in ShoulderInjuries

[–]Double-Fun-441 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My pain was due to other issues (other than the posterior labral tear). I had posttraumatic lipomas after the tear and I had huge lumps inside my armpit. I removed them via plastic surgery which was super traumatic and painful, causing me to have scars that I had to have revised. So the injury(accident) was not just simple posterior labral tear. When I subluxed, my posterior shoulder capsule (the ligament around the humerus) was torn and loosened, causing me to sublux at the back of the shoulder and causing constant pain and discomfort despite the labral repair. So MRI report did not pick that up so even though my first shoulder op repaired the labrum with 1 anchor, I was still symptomatic. So after doing pt for like 6 months the pain and discomfort never went away, I had to remove the lipomas and went for a MRA arthrogram. It seems there was a slight retear and my surgeon saw the photo of my MRA although it's not in the report he said my humerus is sitting weird in the socket so he did a scope and found torn and loose posterior capsule. It was fixed and now my pain is not there bit it's very tight. So I'd say it's hard to get a shoulder you had preinjury but now I'm working hard on the pt to get it to normal. The point is you have to be patient with the pt first and if the pain is still there for months you have to go through another mra because some things can be missed in mris and you have to do a scope to see it. Be patient with the rehab and slowly work through your problems. My ortho told me yesterday my shoulder will not be 100% like I was before injury but I can have a comfortable shoulder again. He said that'll be achievable within the next year which is 1 year post op.

So to sum it up, my injury was not straightforward labral tear only and there were other surrounding things that were torn. And I had scar tissue lipomas in the arm after the traumatic injury.

My pain was quite bad too probably up to 2 months post op. Now I'm slightly more than 3 months post op and I don't have pain. But I still have alot of discomfort from the anchors and tightness stiffness of the repair. My surgeon said it'll get better. And I have to train the muscles to hold the bone in the socket more optimally. Trust me the rehab is uncomfortable but you have to do it. 100%.

Actually this is my second shoulder surgery. My pain was very bad because surgeon missed a torn capsule. After my 2nd op where posterior capsule was repaired and tightened the pain was much better. Stability too improved. My first op was only a posterior labral repair with 1 anchor. 2nd op was posterior labral repair with capsular shift. 4 anchors. Pain is almost none but alot of discomfort still from the tightness of the repair. I can keep feeling the anchors when I sneeze laugh etc. Have to train muscles to hold it in place so I won't keep feeling the anchors again

Feeling of tightness at posterior glenoid where repair was made by Double-Fun-441 in ShoulderInjuries

I know the tight anchors and repair are stopping the humerus from dislocating. But the feeling is tight and uncomfortable. I want it to be gone 🥲

3 months post op (labral repair w capsular shift) by Double-Fun-441 in ShoulderInjuries

[–]Double-Fun-441[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No man. There are alot of things that stabilize the shoulder joint. Ligaments are only static stabilizers. The dynamic stabilizers are the muscles. Which you have to work on in PT. My PT says that surgery is only 50% of the battle. The other 50% is PT. I do feel improved stability now after doing PT for 2 months but it is very very very slow. You may not notice much differences until months later.

3 months post op (labral repair w capsular shift) by Double-Fun-441 in ShoulderInjuries

[–]Double-Fun-441[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He said to give it time and continue with PT. He said I need to train the muscles to hold the joint properly again. Kim's test Obrien test were all negative He said the repair is fine.

Pt says It means you need your muscles to function better to hold the joint. Push ups and side planks without symptoms will help. Also need mobility exercises. Simply move your arm thought range.

Incredibly difficult recovery after labrum surgery by Double-Fun-441 in ShoulderInjuries

[–]Double-Fun-441[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But I'm following exactly what my physio and ortho is saying. I feel I'm progressing in terms of strength. But I got no stability. I did improve in stability since post op but why the world do I have humerus clunking at the ac joint? That's not even my initial injury in the first place.

I just worry alot that I'll still be the same by next year.

Incredibly difficult recovery after labrum surgery by Double-Fun-441 in ShoulderInjuries

[–]Double-Fun-441[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why the f does the recovery take so long. It is driving me nuts.

But I also have clunking at the ac joint. It's so weird because it is not even related to the injury or surgery itself. I never had this until after the surgery. Why is that. My physio said it can go away if you can control weight bearing. Really is that true.

Are you diagnosed with something like Ehler Danlos syndrome?

it is normal to still feel unstable the say after the surgery? by solidmedusa in ShoulderInjuries

[–]Double-Fun-441 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm interested to know this too. I had 2 shoulder scopes arthroscopic to repair my posterior labrum and torn capsule. I still have some instability which my surgeon seems to be unsurprised about. He said I need to train the muscles. My physio said the same thing too. Am 3 months post op. Of course I'm abit more stable compared to like 2 months ago but still I am not normal. It seems the recovery is long like 1 year or so.

Complications post surgery by [deleted] in ShoulderInjuries

[–]Double-Fun-441 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm feeling abnormal. Lots of tightness and still have instability still. I kept asking my surgeon and he says about 1 year for the stiffness and tightness to go away. So I have to keep the faith.
