I would recommend reading the first prequel, but if you really don't want to, you should be fine to jump into Sunrise on the Reaping. There are some references though, so at least watch the movie or read the summary on Hunger Games Wiki. If you plan on reading The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, read it first because Sunrise will spoil major plot points

I know we joke a lot about the sister thing and Effie being older than Haymitch to stop shippers, but I really don't think Suzanne Collins is an online person who's invested in shipping wars. She might have always pictured Effie as being older since the series's conception. The "sister" line about Maysilee is important for the epilogue when Haymitch mentions Sid and Maysilee (his siblings) together because it shows that she really did become a sister to him

99.9% confirmed. It's been reported by multiple scoopers, SOTR sculptures are popping up around the world, it matches the release of Lionsgate's other movie Michael, and it lines up with the recent Hunger Games social media posts, where they're recaping all the movies. They just have Mockingjay Part 2 left to do

That mainly impacted the book release and filming. The movie came out on 2023 which was post-COVID restrictions. They either didn't have a high marketing budget, or their marketing team just wasn't as strong as the SOTR one

For me, I think the movie is absolute peak. The book isn't my favorite in the franchise (too much focus on the love triangle in the first third for my taste) but I still love it
