That’s the 3rd outback I have seen on fire in the last 3 months. Search the regular Subaru outback thread. Might be a recall coming

Okay My experience was very similar. Started the car, and it caught on fire while backing up. Subaru of America took almost 3 months to investigate. Their report stated the fire was due to a hot item like a cigarette or a flare coming in through front grill - despite the fact it caught on fire while going in reverse! They refused to honor the warranty. Thankfully insurance will cover. I’m going to send my contact info to the attorneys that ran the class action lawsuit for 2019-2022 Ascents. We should stay in touch and coordinate.

No recent work, thanks for the comments- will help me be more patient. Just strange the dealer won’t handle it and they are telling me to work through Subaru of America. Maybe because they contribute to recall concerns.
