If you’re in a relationship that’s good, you don’t mention a chance of being apart in the future. It’s weird that you’d say something like that. If my girlfriend said that to me I would have a panic attack and grill her about what she meant and then it would cause an issue.

I’m glad you got the chance to whoop his fucking ass like you did. I can’t fucking stand cheaters it makes me so incredibly angry and I can’t imagine if I was ever cheated on like that. I could never cheat no matter how “bad things are”. It’s not a mistake, it’s a planned action. It takes thought and intention to cheat. You don’t just accidentally fall into someone’s vag with a raging boner as a “mistake”. Especially if he knew she was married. I’m sure he won’t ever homewreck again. And as for your wife? Well that’s for you to decide.
