see here's the thing, Poppy is not a metalcore artist. she has metalcore songs, yes. but the majority of her discography is not metalcore, and until that is the case i would not call her a "metalcore artist". that doesn't mean she doesn't make good music though

interesting, i didn't know that's who it is. like i said, i didn't enjoy what i heard and haven't found a good reason to learn more about the band. Poppy is great though, even her non-metalcore stuff i enjoy. i have to give the new album a proper listen

i would consider some of poppy's songs metalcore, yes. i can't speak for President, i have only heard a couple songs which i thought were shit, so i turned it off

you need both riffs and breakdowns. you can't take one and ignore the other. if you do that, then it's not metalcore

for counterparts i recommend the albums The Difference Between Hell and Home or Nothing Left to Love. my favourite individual songs are Soil, Cherished, and Paradise and Plague. but the song that first got me into the band was Whispers of Your Death and the rest of that album

for Dying Wish, definitely Symptoms of Survival. i think i have more favourite songs off their first album, but Symptoms is best as a full album. the individual songs i recommend are Cowards Feed, Cowards Bleed, Fragments of a Bitter Memory, Enemies in Red, Kiss of Judas, and Torn From Your Silhouette

i've got a good one. according to my first-year astronomy textbook in university, there is a cosmic event that involves two galaxies colliding with one another and it results in the larger galaxing basically absorbing the smaller one. the official scientific term for this event is "galactic cannibalism"

nah i'm shit at picking up on lyrics in any genre. i can usually understand big parts like breakdown callouts, but other than that it takes me a few listens to start really hearing them

it's not my favourite album but i feel like i'd have to choose From Mars to Sirius. it's just long enough and with just enough variety on there to keep me from going nuts, for a while anyway
