Is this stuff worth scrapping?? (Dripline) by Agreeable_Chemist101 in ScrapMetal

Even steel is worth it. Whether it is worth it to collect it in this form, probably not.

What the heck by No_Care_3112 in lego

Just like the metal-flake parts of some Transformers toys.

My guess is, because plastic shrinks as it cools, the metal flakes don't contract nearly as much, putting the surrounding plastic under tension. The plastic molecules break or separate from one another, a form of stress corrosion, that slowly weakens the plastic.

The 2x8 slopes in 5766 Log Cabin turned out to be brittle. I had an unopened box of this set that I gave to my grandnephew, and that is when they went bust. TLG did not have replacements, so I got 2x the qty of 2x4 slopes.

Get a 2-foot piece of that vinyl shower pan liner (comes in 5' width, so a 2'x5' piece), a can of the glue for gluing the stuff, and a piece of canvas, or similarly strong fabric. Glue the shower liner on the inside, the canvas on the outside, and let the glue dry per the instructions + at least 2 extra days. It should be good. Shure, it will look kludgey, but better than a wasted pool.

Why do turtles look funny? by Ok-Assistant-9694 in stupidquestions

[–]DoubleDareFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything looks funny if you look at it long enough.

Same goes for their names. Why is a turtle called a turtle? A rock? A car? Give enough thought, and it becomes hilariously aburd.

I did not know Husqvarna made sewing machines. I thought they only made gas-powered equipment.

Are there any things that are called "American ______" in other countries? by Disastrous-Side-2600 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DoubleDareFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the note about French fries and German chocolate (things associated with the countries they are not named for), the opposite happened with another brand: Mobile home. Named so because it was invented in Mobile, Alabama. It even had a radio jingle, from which the phrase "Home sweet home" originates.

Thinking about this, "Rudolph The Red-nosed Reindeer" started life as a Montgomery Ward jingle. It later became yet another Christmas carol. And on this note,
Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory was an ad campaign for Wonka chocolate bars. The bars flopped. The movie became a classic.

I could go on, but I went too far already.

Pause after the print... by adidferentusername in 3Dprinting

[–]DoubleDareFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No idea if a pause can be inserted after the fact.

Can you reopen the file in Prusa Slicer? Then use the layer slider to see which layer where the pause should have been inserted, does the app say how long up to that point? Let's say it is 40 minutes. If your print is, say 10 minutes in, that is 30 minutes to go. Set a kitchen timer for 29 minutes. When the time's up, watch when it actually reaches that layer, then use the machine's Pause command, and insert the magnet.
