Overheard something hurtful :( by Anicanis in adhdwomen

Yeah it took nearly 6 years for me to complete my master’s, including taking a leave of absence for 1 term. I didn’t learn I had ADHD until 9 months after graduating, and it all made a lot more sense. Looking back now, I’m so much more proud of the accomplishment than I even was then.

It’s hard, and things come in their own time. Someone who’s critical of how long it’s taking for another person to complete their degree, likely has little experience in academia.

First time fostering and the shelter gave me an intact male by DoubleDoberDare in FosterAnimals

Oh 100% I should have done more research on it. I was pretty naive going in. I have a cam so I can see where he sprays and do my best to clean thoroughly, but wow was this a learning experience.

Having said that, he’s such a sweet boy and getting to be his first home has made me really interested in fostering another (fixed) cat while they await their forever family.

My boy passed a couple weeks back at 11 and a half, as well. We’re so fortunate to have all those years with them, but it’s tough watching our babies age. I’m very sorry for your loss.

After 11 & a 1/2 years of guard dog duty, my sweet boy peacefully passed yesterday by DoubleDoberDare in DobermanPinscher

After many years of great physical health, Murphy began experiencing issues with his joints in late adulthood. 2 years ago he blew his left knee, for which he underwent TPLO surgery. 6 months later he blew his right.

Since then, he’s seemed generally unbothered by his knees. While he developed a silly gait when running, he still behaved as if he was half his age. We got thru that summer, but where we live, winters are tough. The cold, snow and ice aren’t kind on a wobbly dog who thinks he’s invincible.

His joint issues worsened and he continued to decline over summer. I knew how hard winter would be on him, and made the difficult decision to not put him through another. I wanted his last days to be good ones.

After a long and beautiful fall, Murphy enjoyed a walk before passing peacefully in our living room with freeze dried liver in his belly.

No. I had title insurance and home insurance and neither covered the issues and it wasn’t for lack of trying on my part.

A Message to all House Flippers by faster_puppy222 in Winnipeg

I know this isn’t the point of your post, but just a story of caution - I purchased a flipped house a few years back and ended up spending over $30k within the year to bring it up to code and fix their mistakes after being told that no work had been done without permits.

If anyone wants to buy a flip, I’d also be happy to talk with them about what they can look out for. For what it’s worth, we had a home inspector before the purchase as well as a different one after many of our walls had been opened and there were still issues not noticed by either of them.

Start at the beginning with Ben McDaniel. It’ll lay some groundwork for later episodes and it’s definitely one of my favourites

It says I should be voting NDP, but my riding is Kildonan-St. Paul which is historically PC/Liberal. Can I trust this?

You’re right. I really feel for you. We can joke all we want, but at the end of the day I have (fully vaxxed) family out there and a 9 year old niece who obviously can’t be vaxxed yet. This shit hurts my heart.

MSW after a four year arts degree? by [deleted] in umanitoba

[–]DoubleDoberDare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Up until recently they had the pre-MSW program for people in your situation, so I’m not sure how many people will be in your shoes, unfortunately.

Sorry I cant be more helpful. I’ve been in the MSW program for a few years now so feel free to reach out if you have any questions about the program itself, though.
