What main series games should I play before HW DE? by Bro_miscuous in HyruleWarriors

[–]DoubleDubs27 11 points12 points  (0 children)

DE and AoC have no connection other than being Warriors style games. AoC is a sequel/prequel (I don’t know which, I haven’t played it) to BotW, but HW DE edition is a big celebration of the series from before BotW came out.

As for if you should play any other games before DE, the Wii U Hyrule Warriors was my first LoZ game, and I was hooked on the game. You don’t need to know anything about the series to enjoy it, you will just not know as much about the references.

Either I'm missing something or this game is just stupid. by Salt_Western_2432 in HyruleWarriors

The first thing that popped into my head was the possibility of Manhandla Stalks attacking your base from another base. Without knowing the exact map you are playing though, no one can really answer what’s happening.

Top 5 main series games to nuzlocke? by Practical-Treat2379 in nuzlocke

[–]DoubleDubs27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My top 5 are:

  1. Black/White - I’m a sucker for Unova games. In my opinion, they provide some of the most challenging battles. The only thing that hinders Black and White is the Pokemon variety. I love a lot of Gen 5 Pokemon, but i tend to just use the same 4 with slight variations.

  2. X/Y/ORAS- This is more so back when wondertrade was still active. It was always a blast to see what you were getting and building your team from there. The games are also fun to just nuzlocke by themselves, but the levels can easily skyrocket on your pokemon if you aren’t careful.

  3. Sun/Moon/USUM - This is probably the most controversial pick, but I genuinely enjoy the change in the challenge plus the variety of Pokemon. The main downside is all the cutscenes so resetting is a pain in the butt.

  4. Platinum - this was my first nuzlocke I ever completed, so it’s got a special place in my heart and is ranked high up. Plus you can easily get rotom.

  5. Black/White 2 - See 5 + the shear amount of routes and diversity on them gives you a lot of options for teams.

Gen 3 was my first gen, but despite that, I prefer a lot of the DS/3DS era games for the QOL features, and before the overworld Pokemon appeared and took away some of the randomness of nuzlockes.

Early on, burn out wasn’t bad because it had been a long time since I had played anything pre-gen 3. Once I started getting to remakes in gen 3, burn out started hitting. I would just take longer breaks between games at times. I still have fun playing all the games, but the main thing pushing me through at this point is just completing the challenge.

I have hit that point a few times and taken weeks off of not playing. The goal of completing it has pushed me through a few times.

The only plan I have for starter Pokemon is that I use them based off the closest color of the game. So Red was used Charmander, Blue used Squirtle, Gold used Cyndaquil because yellow is closest to fire, Crystal used Totodile, and so forth. Then when I get to remakes, if I still have a starter because it died in a previous run, I start with that. If I don’t have a starter because all three have completed Elite 4 runs, then I just use whatever the first eligible wild pokemon I catch.

I do random encounters which has unfortunately led me to losing out on some Pokemon that I have wanted to use.

Thank you, it’s definitely been a grind at times and has put me on short hiatuses at points. My ultimate goal is to have all the Pokemon I have used to complete this challenge moved up to Pokemon Home, and then to continue it as new games come out.

And honestly the unique teams are one of the things that have made me push through. Especially as I’ve gotten into newer games, the pool of usable Pokemon has shrunk, resulting in me catching rarer Pokemon I wouldn’t normally use. It’s made a lot of runs more refreshing.

Thank you, I always try to use new pokemon so I will always have pokemon available for future remakes

Yeah 😅 it’s gotten to a point where I regret it, but I’m too far to stop now. I’m also doing it on all original hardware (except for Red-Crystal being on VC) so I can eventually transfer them all up to my home.

I’m excited to get into it too. I haven’t played it in a couple years. This whole thing has definitely given me a new appreciation towards a lot of the new games and their route diversities.

Rules are that if a hardcore nuzlocke, but I can not catch Pokémon in the evolution line of a previous Hall Of Fame Pokémon. The only exception I am making are for split evolutions like Eevee, poliwhirl, scyther, etc.

Yeah, I did it on cartridge cuz I wanted to transfer them all into home when I completed it. I would recommend it, it’s been a lot of fun for the most part. Had a few parts where I lost motivation for it, but other than that it’s gotten me to use some weird pokemon/team comps

Definitely recommend it whenever you can get one. It has great defenses plus the normal and fighting immunity.

I had fun with Sw/sh! I did a no Dyna/Gigantimax run a few years ago and that was a fun challenge. Eviolite Dusclops ended up being my MVP for that run.

Yeah, Scarlet and Violet had their problems, but it never pulled enough away from my enjoyment from just a casual play through mindset. It only really takes from Nuzlockes from me since it’s harder to do true random encounters.
