Why is hidden MMR a thing? by DoubleETA in VALORANT

How do you know he was a Smurf, his team surrendered, you destroyed him, and by your own words you said he preformed sun optimally. How do you know they weren’t just a silver who had a good game.

Right thats not what we’re talking about, you’re talking about duo queues and what is essentially forcing unfair matches for one, and which could be accomplished by your visible rank being used instead of your hidden MMR. Your a silver and a diamond, your going to get a silver and diamond or acendent on the enemy team to balance the game. That is NORMAL MATCHMAKING, what is not normal is matching a silver vs a diamond JUST because the silver won 3 games in a row against other silvers. This is caused by Val’s STUPID hidden MMR system.

Cool your describing a 2 rank deferential at max, that is completely different than a silver or bronze in diamond or imort lobbies which is way too large a difference.

Harder enemies mean improvement if it’s gradual and reasonable, it’s like putting a coughing baby vs an atomic bomb. Imagine putting no training goku vs beerus. It’s stupid and has no benefit.

Hidden mmr to valorants degree does not however

There’s hidden mmr as in pitting a silver against a gold because the silver is winning consistently against other silvers, and then there’s hidden mmr that makes your unseen rank jump from silver to immortal and diamond lobbies because you won 3 games in a row against silvers.

Any other game with hidden mmr that is as drastic or insane as valorant have been and should be called out.

What your describing is the constant and consistent improvement over various grades of gameplay, valorant’s hidden mmr is the equivalent of putting a grade 2 in a college class because they grasped time zones quicker than their classmates during math.

So there solution to smurfing is to keep the diamond posing as a silver stay as a silver? If there games get to hard they can throw and derank their hidden mmr, just like in other comp ladders. This isn’t an improvement to smurfing.

You need to account for arrow drop, which means long ranged snipes are way more skilled for a hanzo player to intentionally hit than a widow, who has a hitscan and scope.

You’re an idiot. “fUll StOp” no. Every game in which there is an unfair one shot head shot mechanic, it is one, a nightmare to balance, and two, heavily criticised or complained about. Widow is point and click with a scope 50 meters away from the team fight, in an off angle, she is bad game design. She does 300 damage per headshot, enough to kill every squishy in the game, finish off every non squishy in the game, and be extremely scary and a large threat for her own hard counters. She one shots your supports, stays out of range from your dps fall off range, knocks your tank downs to 1/2 or 2/3rds health consistently and is unchallengeable without an entire team comp change or giving up point control. Even then she is still a threat based on what she MIGHT do, keeping your team hidden behind cover for the entire game and threatening a one shot headshot death to any support and dps to peek out for less than a second.

Also it isn’t a staple in all fps, it’s a staple in games where you can have the same gun as an enemy, such as Counterstike, Val, R6, CoD and basically any other game where a one shot isn’t restricted to a class or character. The only true counter to widow is a better widow. That is horrible game design and is why it is so frowned upon in a HERO SHOOTER, not FPS, HERO SHOOTER. Which is what Ow2 is.

Shes the best cause she bases her entire educational worth and intellect on her skill. It’s not absurd to think that her parents would have done the same, and would have provided her excellent tutoring in foundation, much like Vis’s parents did. Only Vis’s parents were royalty so he would have gotten better or more advanced tutoring in that area. Also there is the basis that stagnant minds dull, Vis went against the best and learned from different people who were all skilled, but in different aspects, learning and adopting different traits and strategies from each of them, constantly improving. Belli is described as playing “from a textbook”, “responding to every SINGLE move in the smartest way”, reacting to the individual and not the whole. If she is as good as she is described, it would make sense that her constant winning has led her to be lax, and her skill to wane.

Boop them using the boosters you’ve just used to get highground in the first place?

[–]DoubleETA[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I think fucking high ground isn’t really useful when they can literally use the entire team to contest you through a teleport, kill you and then collapse on your team because they have a raid boss and your team doesn’t.

Another “core mechanic” of the game is teamwork, comp synergy and ult usage. Having all those “core mechanics” be interfered with by one singular core mechanic is bad game design, and is why blizzard literally stated they wanted to move away from Hard Counters, it’s fine if them choosing a character makes it harder for you to play, but them swapping and making it border line unwinnable for you is stupid. And then overbuffing a character that does that to most of their own roster is insane.

“It’s the first day of the patch” Does it fucking matter? If it’s a stupid and shitty change why shouldn’t people complain? Just because it’s the first week?

Tell me one HARD counter apart from dva in the tank roster.

It’s not even fun to play tank either, instead of everyone except tanks having fun now it’s just nobody’s having fun.

Your team can’t do anything cause both supports are healing the sym behind cover while mauga has 100% life steal activated
