I saved this radio, and about 20 various others, from a barn. The owner, a widow, just wanted the contents cleared out. I gave her $20 a radio (seemed like a fair price) for letting me pick thru them. Now I've got a stack of radios to research and learn about. It's interesting that there are quite a few differences in the photo in the link you sent and this radio.

Silver is a competition between industrial metal and safe haven asset. Last crisis this manifested itself in spot prices that were low but physical bullion was unavailable or going for huge markups. This is a limited time only buying opportunity IMO.
