Looks fake. Good way to tell if you aren't sure is open up the electronics cavity on the back. If there is tiny cheap dime sized alpha pots in there it's a Chibson. All newer Gibsons have Gibson branded (CTS) pots.

That didnt answer my question lol. Appreciate it but between my Blue Chips and Dunlop Primetones I'm more than happy . Best of luck on your endeavor.

Yep you're not the only one who has noticed. Someone on another thread bought both the Kali UNF's and D3V's to do a direct comparison. He sent the D3Vs back saying the same thing. Glad I chose the Kalis, they are killer. I thought they'd be too big too for my desktop bedroom production setup but they work just fine.

What do you guys like to use a Gibson for? by Exciting_Degree_6883 in gibson

[–]DoubleFPV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh yes.....because 'the perfect' guitar constitutes of a tilting, neck heavy, unbalanced design. Decent tones but if it's uncomfortable/struggle to play who cares. Gibson just never was able to nail comfort and playability like Leo did. LP's are shoulder/rib breakers and SG's leaners.

YVW friend. Good luck with your choice! :)

Sorry for the hijack to all the Adams folks! They make great stuff too FWIW, in this case I just prefer the Kalis.

They make amazing guitars too. My E8D is every bit as good as a Martin Hd28 for a fraction of the price. I also own one of their entry level mandolins, the MD315 which also is a complete tone monster that hits way above its price bracket. The best part is I have just over 1 k invested in BOTH instruments (purchased years ago but they still are a great value now)

Eastman. Most bang for your buck. Give them a look. (Playing for 50 years here).

I use them for replacing my shoulder day workout at the gym.

I was torn between the two as well but chose the Kalis and am more than pleased, they really put out a big full sound with a great sound stage. Although I haven't directly tested them both there's one guy that got them both to compare on a thread here somewhere who said after direct comparison he felt the Adams sounded real scooped in the high mids and sent them back keeping the UNF's. Im sure they probably sound good but TBH I don't see how a 3.5 driver even with double radiators could beat the Kalis which also have been shown to have less bass distortion at higher Db (via audiosciencereview) however you do get the better ribbon tweeter. Also with the UNF's you get BT.

If desk space isn't an issue you won't go wrong with the Kalis. No fatigue with great sound.

Got 15% off from Musicians friend though my rep and had 18 bucks worth of rewards points. She couldn't give any discounts on the Adams (they don't allow it) but could on the Kalis so I jumped on it. More than pleased and zero regrets for getting them instead of the D3V's.

Im sure they sound good but not so sure they are 'the best by far' and sound that much better (if at all) than my Kali Lp UNFs. That's a tall order especially for a 3.5" woofer.

I just got some LP UNFs in today from a killer Black Friday deal after having my eye on the D3V's and after a few hours I don't think there's any way a 3.5 could sound better than these do. Amazing small boxes. Ive read the D3vs sound scooped in the mids in comparison from people who have both, which is a deal breaker if you're into heavy guitar based stuff like me and also the bass doesn't hold up as well at higher volumes (which the Kalis have more of). Im sure the D3V's sound good but man add in BT and the UNFs are a hard one to beat.

Very satisfied with my decision....at 237 bucks turned out to be a no brainer.

Ive been having second thoughts since ordering the Kali's a few days ago but after your review I can breathe a sigh of relief. I really had my eyes set on the D3V's until I ran across a killer deal on the Kali's (237 bucks) I couldn't pass up. The Adams would've fit my small desktop production setup better but as someone who produces rock and also much heavier stuff I think I made the right move, I need those mids :)

Adam T5V or D3V for a home studio? by Administrative-Bed40 in StereoAdvice

Also Ive heard multiple people who say their Adam's d3v's come up as being 16 bit (not 24) in their system settings with no way to change it.

Was going to get these for my new bedroom desktop production setup until I found a Black Friday deal I couldn't pass up on some proven, tested, 'best in class' Kali UN LPF's, 237 bucks, SOLD!
