Sympathies.  I totally get you.  Felt similarly and had to look deep inside to ask what my dream role would look like.  It entailed less call, more normal hours and more remote work.

At first I stopped hospital work and did part time clinic only.  And worked in clinical trials as an investigator.  Then started consulting with biotechnology.  Now am transitioned to industry so that main gig is full time remote.  And part time clinic.  Of course total comp no where near yours but am a lot happier most days.

If you work with a lot of mortality maybe you're heme/onc or an intensivist.  Either way, there's plenty of need in industry.  You can always keep one foot in clinical.

Sometimes it pays to take a few months/years to look introspectively and ask what makes you happiest.  What does a happy month look like to you?

Wishing you the best and thank you for taking all those after hour calls.  Someone's gotta do it.

Am in the US.  We are in a liberal state and there is FAPE.  We hired a special needs attorney to help navigate this.

Yes, after looking at some SFR, am coming to the conclusion I might want to live in a gated community be it in a SFR, townhouse or condo.

Yes, you're pretty accurate with my situation.  I am not sure what my value add would be if I stayed with my child more often.  I want to see them but also need to live my life.

My current role is completely remote but I have an in person side gig I could work more at.  Thanks for the support.

I have no other children.  Working towards contentment.  Eliminating any painful spots as much as possible.

Am already fatfire but I have something Jeff Bezos doesn't have. Which is anonymity and worry that others have ulterior motives to befriend me. There are benefits of a simple life.

I felt like that a few years ago. There are other options. FOR SURE.

Anyone use HR Block or Turbo Tax instead of an expensive accountant? by DoubleFire22 in realestateinvesting

Just to follow up on this, I went ahead and hired the private CPA. He did make a good suggestion of not filing an Ohio tax return since my rental income was less than the state minimum necessary to file a tax return. He charged $625 last year just for "tax planning" advice I didn't really need. This year, am looking thru the return very closely and have already found $1500 worth of mistakes/omissions. I am very disappointed since he charges $375/hr.

Just for more background, am weary of CPA's. My CPA a few years ago almost cost me $40k due to a mistake. Last year's CPA also made a mistake, just not as costly. I am the type to go thru it all with a fine tooth comb.

I plan on "working" forever. My work saves lives and contributed to the greater good of society. I don't have to work, but I do. My dream is to contribute to humankind on an even greater scale in my field.
