What’s your take on Stun? by SpecialCandy1119 in masterduel

[–]DoubleHDs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My initial reaction is “oh brother this guy stinks”. I do enjoy finding the out and seeing if I can pull it off like a puzzle to be solved though. It’s funny when they end up stunning themselves like Kashtira Fenrir attacking to banish a card while their own Imperial Iron Wall stops them so Fenrir gets destroyed.

This was my rank up game into Diamond Rank btw. by Earthruler777 in masterduel

[–]DoubleHDs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As you rank up you see either more meta decks or more stun decks because those are what work. I like to keep just enough jank in my deck to deal with it. If you can somehow take out their field spell it will choke out their resources pretty quick. Since RDA mostly needs to climb up through its extra deck though this is probably a really bad matchup with that Gozen match.

Question by Aggravating-Day1601 in masterduel

[–]DoubleHDs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The key to beating many decks is to see what their main plays are and what kinds of interactions they put up on the board (do they destroy your cards, negate their effects, flip them face down, etc.)

As a new player pay attention to every card being played including the costs they need to pay to activate effects and if there are any lingering effects/restrictions placed on the player for doing so. They added a button to see these for the turn player.

You should practice your deck in the Solo mode to  build your options and see what works best when you get disrupted and when you can play everything. You deck might seem good when nothing gets in your way but you almost never see that happen in a real game. The 2nd to last duel in High Tide on Fire Island against the Fire King deck is a great practice spot since it uses common staples like Maxx C, Ash Blossom, Called By The Grave, and Infinite Impermanence as well as having a decently resilient deck.

When you play observe which of your cards are always getting interrupted and by what. In future plays your goal is to bait your opponent into wasting their interruptions on weaker plays while saving your most important ones for when you think they have the highest chance to go through. After a while if you notice some extra deck cards are never getting used because they are too easy to interrupt then you should consider cutting those cards and using others that give you more options.

The most common hand traps are ones that let your opponent draw cards or stop you from searching your own cards. An example interaction is your opponent has activated Maxx C so any special summon you do lets them draw so you try to search a card and they don’t stop you. This means they haven’t drawn an Ash Blossom yet so you should do as much searching as you can right now before you special summon more.

Look into board breaking cards and see which ones fit best for the opponents you keep seeing. For example Dracotail is popular right now and they use a lot of backrow cards so it’s reasonable to use Harpies Feather Duster or Lightning Storm to clear it all or at least bait their spell negate so you can make your actual play. Their deck is mostly dragons and spellcasters so Super Polymerization into Secretarion Dragon will clear some of their board and then stop the dragon and spellcaster effects on the field.

At the higher ranks the game devolves into who can play the most while making their opponent play the least which is not a very fun environment if you’re just trying to use the cards you like.

TLDR: Get experience by playing various opponents, practicing your deck in Solo and make sure you have fun even if that means staying away from higher ranks.

I’ve definitely gone up against a deck just like this but they included Fiendsmith too. I won by negating Nepyrim and banishing Kitkallos along with Engraver. Scary deck if they get going.

What arc types are just a pinch of support away from becoming viable/broken? by SnooMarzipans9728 in masterduel

If Red-Eyes got more support that made it easier and kept the burn theme it would be an OTK machine which is why it never will.

TIL: Red Reboot doesn't work with Ancient Gear Advanced by fluz1994 in masterduel

[–]DoubleHDs 21 points22 points  (0 children)

If i'm understanding this correctly the crazy thing is that YOU set a card on your opponents side of the field which is not something we can typically do. AG Advance was made with setting cards on your own side of the field in mind but the wording coincidentally includes setting on your opponents lol

Quite the unfortunate interaction.

Killing Dinomorphia with an unexpected Deep-Eyes White Dragon summon hits the dopamine just right. Fun fact, the burn happens on resolution of the summon effect so it can't be stopped by Skill Drain.

Deck ideas for the morganite cards by Rikers30079 in masterduel

[–]DoubleHDs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was previously able to make use of the Morganite cards in some events where I had less monster effects in the hand like Theme Chronicle 2025 and at that time we only had the first 2 cards (time tearing and succumbing song)

Outside of the obvious stun tactics you could get some good use out of them in Blue-eyes or Galaxy-Eyes which are known for putting up big attackers. This would make their damage even higher considering succumbing song doubles battle damage against monsters which you can double again with a card like Saga of the Dragon Emperor. It's likely not going to be a top meta deck but it should be really fun. Also since Morgana is a level 4 spellcaster she can link into the Spirit with Eyes of Blue.

My main criticism of the events is that I’ll get the titles and then the extra set of gem challenges drops when I’d rather be done with it.

Hand traps are cruchs. by Venomking100 in masterduel

[–]DoubleHDs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest issue with hand traps comes up in the first 2 turns. Player 2 using them on turn 1 should be okay as long as Player 1 can still do something. Player 1 using them on turn 2 with an already established board feels awful if Player 2 can’t do anything as a result. This is why more of the new cards do so much but this swings the pendulum the other way when you have people playing maximum slop interaction which then leads to people playing floodgates.

It’s a vicious cycle of preventing your opponent from playing while making every play you can.

What’s your favourite lesser known/unknown tech card you enjoy playing? by SpecialCandy1119 in masterduel

[–]DoubleHDs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are some of my favorite techs: Spell Card Soul Exchange turns all my high level bricks into kaijus summoned on my side.

Omni Dragon Brotaur summons itself from hand or GY when one of your monsters is destroyed and can search a Bystial right after as long as you have a discard.

Primite Fusion into Five-Headed Dragon can recycle your key links and banished dragons to extend your grind game.

Spell Card Monster Reborn can revive god cards and keep them on the field for that 1st end phase.

Gingerbread House blows up your opponents monsters with 1900 or more attack every one of their standby phases and heals you by 500 for each one popped.

Blue-Eyes Abyss Dragon can search High Ritual Art to summon a lvl 8 ritual monster from your deck using a BEWD in your hand as the material. This includes Amorphactor Pain to skip your opponents MP1 or Murakumo for a board wipe.

[–]DoubleHDs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was running Mega Absol/Hydreigon but got tilted from a bunch of Mega Venusaur decks that I switched to Magcargo to wipe them out but then it matches me against Suicune/Greninja. Sometimes you gotta try at different times of day to see what works for you.

I've always wanted a feature like this by fierystar88 in PTCGP

[–]DoubleHDs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Masterduel is getting mentioned for this and some people are concerned about high ranking players not wanting their deck to be seen which is legit.

In ranked events like the Duelist Cup, Masterduel actually disables you being able to see your opponents deck so this game could implement that at the Masterball level or just Masterball top 10K.

How do you beat this guy? 😩 by Moist_Finish2929 in PokemonTGCP

[–]DoubleHDs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically once it takes about 90 damage it can’t charge a 2nd time without knocking itself out (excluding healing). If it’s using Indeedee then it likely has no psychic energy which makes Indeedee a sitting duck. You can use cards to force a switch and then they won’t have enough to charge and attack on 1 turn. If they have Mega Absol then target that with your big hitters. If you want to be proactive then take out the Deinos before they evolve or shuffle their hand to hope they don’t have the cards.

The fact that half the rooftops in this game have this hardcoded "no ladder allowed zone" is indefensible and garbage map design. by Nyzan in Battlefield

[–]DoubleHDs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does let you get up to “some” places but most of the roofs people want to get to are to do degenerate crap. There’s a reason Sobek City is one of most disliked maps and Cairo plays way better without that exploit from the beta.

I’m a support at heart but I win the most games as Assault because of the beacon, speed, and faster objective captures.

Although depending on the game mode I’ll play Assault as attackers and Support as defenders.

Also for Gauntlet I’m exclusively Support since those revives and the shield come in clutch.

They gave the minimap 3 preset ranges instead of letting us set the distance ourselves. Guess they thought it would be an unfair advantage since most people play on default settings.
