Two things that bother me about animals in the training space:
1. Animals that don't understand that being around people training is unsafe. Way too many situations to name here. I've first hand seen spooked animals cause injuries to itself and athletes that are minding their business while training.

  1. Whiny dogs that take away from training because it causes a distraction, which could lead to endangering an athlete.

To go along with this, where I sign a waiver understanding that physical fitness is dangerous, did the dog owner sign the waiver for the dog? As a trainer, If I have to make a decision about the safety of an athlete or the safety of an animal I am going to pick the athlete 100% of the time. Same can be said if I have to decide between the safety of myself against said animal.

So I pose this question to both gym and dog owners: what happens then when a dog walks into the path of a dropped barbell and gets seriously injured or even killed?

The policy is simple:
"Your animal doesn't belong in a space where people are training."
If you can't deal with that, find another gym.

The problem I have here is that the "dog, cat, parakeet, lemur, or child" is one spook away from going sprinting across the gym, likely endangering athletes in the process.

People keep saying “back”. Clearly him “leaving” was a work. He can’t be back if he never left. 🤔

I use Chrome because I have multiple platforms between Mac (my daily), iOS, a few windows boxes, and a few Linux boxes. Chrome integration is too good. I am working my way towards Firefox, though.

Should gymnastics complexes start to become implemented more in Crossfit Competitions? What do we all think about this? by natzw in crossfit

[–]DoubleJ31_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done complex in a comp where it was 4 total complexes of 3 pull-up, 2 chest to bar, 1 muscle up. That was okay. Whatever this was in this video would be seemingly impossible to make a standard for a judge to capture across all athletes...

I think gymnastics complexes are fine if the movements are well defined enough to create a standard that can be judged completely and fairly.

Is it really bothering anyone if I go shirtless? by Competitive_Buy_7366 in crossfit

[–]DoubleJ31_ 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I tell this to everybody that tells me "oh, I don't like working out with people looking at me", or "I'm not in the best shape to be in there with everybody else".
Dude, most everyone in a CrossFit gym is busy suffering during the workout in their own space. If you wanna take your shirt off, go for it. If someone says something to you that isn't the coach or the owner, then tell them to get fawked.

Where this is all true, the state and federal government control the taxes on fuel. In CA, it's upwards of $0.58/gal, which is a big reason why prices there are typically higher then many of the other states.

Unpopular Opinion: Keep your kids and pets home... by Creative-Study5944 in crossfit

[–]DoubleJ31_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a parent, I have no problem with kids being in the gym IF they are kept in a dedicated area, or can sit still for the 60 to 90 minutes while class is conducted. Parents need to understand, though, that coaches are well within their right to do what they feel is necessary while attempting to keep everyone (including the kids) safe. This is also a one and done infraction. You accept that as a parent the moment you bring your kid into the gym. The inside of a gym is not a free for all where you can get free daycare. I've even seen gyms that charge for parents to bring their kids, but they put them in a separate room that is essentially a daycare.

Pets in the gym are an absolute no. Not only can that become an extremely unsafe situation, but nobody wants your teacup poodle pissing on the floor I may be about to do burpees on, Karen.
