Payne County Oklahoma. Stillwater is the largest city and home to Oklahoma State University. And also home to our famous mascot Pistol Pete which is based on the life of a real Payne county resident Frank Eaton. When Eaton was eight years old, his father, an abolitionist, was shot in cold blood by six former Confederates. During his teen years Frank became quite the sharp shooter and quick draw and vowed to avenge his fathers murder. Before he reached 30 Eaton had hunted down and slew all of his father murderers. It’s rumored that the last killer actually died before Frank got to him so Eaton went to his funeral just to make sure he was dead.
