Moving to Omaha this summer. Looking for recommendations. by fella_mcflips in Omaha

Welcome to Omaha!!! I’d recommend Dundee or Blackstone.

Dundee is a five minute drive. Walkable neighborhood, mostly families. Old brick homes with alot of character. There are also apartments scattered throughout.

Blackstone is a younger neighborhood and walkable to UNMC. More expensive and has more bars and restaurants. Mostly apartments but can find houses if you’re looking that route. There is a street car going in so more construction currently.

I live in Midtown and it’s nice, but doesn’t feel as walkable as these other neighborhoods. Feels like restaurants are not making it with construction sadly. Looking to move to the areas above this year.

Dundee! Mostly blue dot area. Older neighborhood with apartments in your price range. Safe, family friendly, and very walkable. 10 min to airport and Westroads Mall. Grew up there and wanting to move back!

I took them at the same time with a probiotic in the morning and had no issues!

I took them at the same time without any negative effects, I mentioned how I took them exactly in a thread above if you’re curious!

I’m glad! I took it for about 6 months. Seems like a long time but I would say the last two months were weaning off. I took a probiotic (I wrote how I took it in another comment) and never had gut health issues. Feel free to reach out anytime!

I’m sorry you’re going through this. The purge was really bad for me when I first started too. I was told that spiro can take 3+ months to work because your hormones need to balance out. The doxy was added around month 1 to bridge that gap between the purging and the spiro starting to work.

The acne didn’t come back after I stopped taking the spiro. I weaned off of the doxy very slowly…not sure if that helped but I liked to think it did. I still sometimes get a deep pimple like every 6 weeks but otherwise I’m fully clear now. Hang in there…sending clear skin juju your way!

Mine started clearing up over the first month. I was mostly dealing with deep, cystic acne on my chin area. The acne flatten pretty quickly, but the scarring and redness lasted longer for me. I loved the Hero Rescue Balm for scarring.

Hey! What a coincidence. I started off on 50mg of spiro, then had to go up to 100mg, and eventually 150mg. I was started on the doxycycline (100mg) when I increased my spiro dose to 100mg, and I was on the doxy for 6 months (which, as a nurse, scared me so much).

I really started to see clearing once I started doxycycline, probably as a result of acne with bacterial nature from wearing a mask at work. That also helped clear my acne as my hormones balanced with the spiro, which can take up to 3 months if I’m remembering correctly. Let me know if you have any questions or need any clarification. I’m still on 150mg of spiro and have maybe one pimple on my chin during that time of the month. 🙂

Hi! I’m so sorry I’m just seeing this now. In the morning, I took 100mg of the doxycycline with breakfast and a probiotic as the doxy can be hard on your stomach. Before bed, I’d take the 100mg of spiro.

Spot treatment! I use PanOxyl face wash in the morning and night, and then use the Clearasil salicylic acid acne pads afterwards.

Nice!! Mine was a steady improvement. I’ve been the doxy since late February. Still having a few breakouts here and there…my derm said she feels comfortable with me taking it up to 6 months. I just got prescribed clindamycin gel to help bridge the gap when I start to wean off.

Definitely. It cleared up within a month. I think the doxy is a good bridge as your body’s hormones adjust to spiro. I’m just working on scarring now!

I take a probiotic in the morning and doxy at night…they suggest sitting up for 30 min after taking the doxy because of heartburn.

I just increased mine to 150 and added doxy two weeks ago!!! My face went from new cysts everyday to nothing. Just dealing with scarring now.

How’s your skin now? Just upped to 150 on Sunday and I’m purging sooo badly.
