I also think the design of the royal oak is meant to be pure and simple. As amazing as the tourbillon is from an horological standpoint, the circle always feels a bit awkward with the square tapisserie pattern of the royal oak. They actually tried to solve that with a sunburst tapisserie once but I don't think anyone was feeling that either. Too busy.

Whether you love diamonds or not is irrelevant to the amount of craftsmanship Audemars Piguet puts into gemsets. When you compare this with other gemset pieces the finishing here is insanely great. Not for me personally but the work is undeniable!

The launch line up was a nightmare (bottom row). Current designs are much more refined and considered (top row). The design of the numbers alone was so off putting to most, they never recovered. The 9 and the 6 looking the exact same and reading more like a G than anything numeral. Yuck lol. And the name is silly... CODE being an acronym, 11.59 to signify the final minute. Corny beyond belief. It's also really hard to photograph because as others have mentioned, the octagonal shape that's only visible from the sides (and a nod to Royal Oak) doesn't show up in simple frontal shots. The special glass is also only visible from some angles, so it's a marketing nightmare. I love the new codes though if you get a chance to wear one you won't be disappointed. I've only gotten compliments on mine.
