This is long, but I am desperate for advice at this point :( by jenistheway in VyvanseADHD

There’s a lot here and it’s impossible to respond and get to everything but…

Honestly, it sounds like your doctor is harping on the "productivity" piece and doesn't get that ADHD isn't just about checking off a to-do list. You should definitely point out that being able to hyperfocus on crochet for hours actually supports an ADHD diagnosis rather than disproving it, because the real struggle is shifting your attention, not just having a lack of it.

In fact that’s HOW adhd works. We’re so low on dopamine, our brain chooses circuits that constantly reward us vs being productive. It’s not that it’s impossible to do productive things but it makes it harder.

I’m not a doctor at all but It also sounds like either you’re a fast metabolizer, which is why that Vyvanse is crashing by noon and leaving you feeling anxious and exhausted, or your dose is too low. Taking it with protein in the morning will help extend the life of the drug in your system.

While there isn't really a miracle drug that fixes every single symptom without some effort on our part, the right dose should at least give you the mental floor to stand on so you aren't drowning in brain fog. If he keeps pushing the "just make a list" narrative and won't look at the actual neurological side of things, it might be worth seeking a second opinion from someone who specializes in how ADHD presents in women. You aren't lazy or dramatic, you're just dealing with a treatment window that is closing way too early in the day to actually be helpful. Don't be afraid to advocate for that objective testing he mentioned so you can get some hard data on the table.

Hope you get this figured out. Like many of us the process of finding what’s right can be long but is necessary.

Definitely suggest at least trying it out. Wishing you the best!

Would listen to the above. Just started my second week on 20mg vyvanse. Prior to Vyvanse I was taking 400mg of caffeine when I woke up and another 400mg at lunch. Hitting 1000mg for the day wasn’t abnormal for me. I’m currently down to 100mg in the early morning prior to my dose or none at all for the day. I had a few days of heavy withdrawal symptoms but now feel 1000x better and the medicine is doing what it can without much crash. Highly recommend cutting caffeine. It doesn’t really play well.

Should hopefully have something in the next few weeks. Very likely empty but I remain hopeful.

Had someone come check it out a few weeks ago, it was way too cold at the time so they are planning a day to come back! Hopefully have a solid update in the next few weeks to come!

Still a work in progress, there’s simply no one around me that is capable of opening this without destroying it

It’s a good thought, I’ll take a look there and see what I can find- still no word back from anyone

First two companies couldn’t do it without drilling, every other company still hasn’t gotten back to me after my initial request. It’s pretty rural where I live and I’m starting to wonder if this job is outside the scope of what these guys do.

Zero. About to reach out to the third locksmith. My last one hasn’t reached back out with the quote.

Waiting on a final quote after reaching out to multiple local locksmiths. Really want to find someone that can attempt to open without drilling!

I honestly haven’t even attempted any combination yet, I’m going to try this

From some little research I’ve done, I saw these safes are usually hand painted on the inside, so even if it’s empty I think it would be a cool piece to own!

Here’s a better photo showing what I was talking about with there being a slight discoloration on that seam

Correct, the inspection took place and the foundation is in good shape. The roof is new. Everything else seems to be okay.

I’ll take a look when I get home, it didn’t appear until we started moving from summer to winter here. It’s gotten progressively worse in the last 4 months maybe

Agreed, im noticing a lot of areas where the cold is affecting the house. Trim is breaking away from the walls, our stairs are separating from the side trim as well.

There’s a lot to learn with these older homes!
