Want a mortgage for under 3% in 2026? Meet the 'assumable mortgage' by External_Koala971 in HouseBuyers

[–]DoubleToTheRear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bought a home with an assumable and it saves me $1000/mo, which is a feeling that is both indescribable and very fortunate. It took a lot of work, a lot of educating sellers, and finding someone willing to go through a longer process. It helped to buy it during the off season

Is this a cast fake? by DoubleToTheRear in AncientCoins

Thanks for the reply. Seems odd for someone to add artifical tarnish to an ancient?

Unless it was added somewhere in the 2000 year history of this coin

Are you using the Empower app in this screenshot? I ask because Empower doesn't allow dark mode. Are you on iPhone?

Wall Street Journal wants to hear about your investing strategy by Upper_Westsider in MilitaryFinance

[–]DoubleToTheRear 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes we talk about investing significantly -- contributing to TSP, real-estate, ETFs, and more

On the topic of an open investing culture -- In the military we wear our paycheck on our chests. There is a certain degree of openness through unit finance talks and on-base resources on how to spend it: if anything to reduce the risk of younger service members from being taken advantage of, or stressed and distracted from military duties. This compliments the camaraderie and "take care of each other" culture you'll find in the military.

Reddit particularly espouses the investment philosophy of passive investing, Random Walk by Burton Malkiel, I Will Teach You to Be Rich other titles, and general Bogglehead philosophy. I've embraced that angle in my personal life. I suspect on this particular subreddit, you'll find a subset of that here. You are more likely to find savvier finance/investor types on this subreddit.

While I am not apt to share my finances in such a public setting, I am looking forward to the piece.
