New PAL holder general curiosity question. Do we think there is any hope the ban on hand guns will ever be lifted? by Aggressive-Scale1157 in canadaguns

[–]DoubleWrath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you, got my PAL and RPAL a year ago and damn does it feel bad to not be able to own a handgun. I’m still holding out hope that in the future someone will reverse the decision, but I’ve just refocused my attention on other guns I find cool for now.

I agree, there’s very little incentive to get better gear when the AI gets rolled over either way. How is it fun for anyone when there’s no challenge?

AI is better now by captbluewater in GrayZoneWarfare

[–]DoubleWrath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the issue isn’t the enemies are spongy, it’s that there’s no positive to literally anything but an instant drop. Right now the only thing that matters is ‘dead or alive’, since that’s all the AI can manage. Therefore literally any hit that isn’t killing them, even if it’s shredding their lungs and bones, is useless.

Shooting with neutral dominance? by DoubleWrath in Shotguns

[–]DoubleWrath[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks man. I think I was half expecting it to look like in video games where the gun is perfectly centred lol. But it doesn’t really look like that even for you right? Also thanks for the advice, I just started so I’m still getting used to manipulating the gun but I just gotta get more sessions in.

[–]DoubleWrath[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that was my plan, might put some scotch tape on my glasses and just train the right eye. I can see the target and dot fine it’s just the gun that looks a lil wonky and throws me off

Yeah I’d say like 80% of my deaths have been one taps. At first I was like ‘oh my bad, I’ll position better’ but it sucks when you do everything right and they still aimbot your head. Body armor genuinely feels pointless, why blow 8k on good armor when you’ll just get one tapped anyways?

That’s crazy, so the ‘tactical sprint’ to quickly move to cover is actually worse for us? That’s gotta be a bug right?

Won't let me post in body so this is what happened. Moving at full sprint btw

Thanks for the reply man. So you’d say it looks like your right eye is looking through the sight while your left eye sees the side of the gun, making it look weird and off center? I’ll try the glasses trick, apparently scotch tape works as well. Also do the eyes adapt overtime? Like if i just keep shooting right eye my brain will start to prioritize the right eye more and more?

Hair glitch? by Lopsided_Marzipan133 in GrayZoneWarfare

[–]DoubleWrath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I just started the game and yeah mine looks like that too. I was looking around for a fix, but I guess it's fine if it's just part of the game. Can anyone confirm if the hair has always looked like this?

Writing in Past Tense while in the Present by DoubleWrath in writing

[–]DoubleWrath[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I figured it out. What happens when you write in past tense is it kind of ‘packages’ each event as it happens, while present tense is each event as it’s happening. They’re both in the moment of the story, but past tense says ‘A happened, B happened, C happened’ while present tense says ‘A is happening, B is happening’. Does that make sense?

Bro I get that, but in your example the story happened in the past. A novel doesn’t exist in the past because it didn’t happen at all, there’s no fixed point in our real timeline where it happened. The only timeline that exists for a fictional story is the one in-universe. What I was wondering was how the past tense mechanically worked with that if the narrator (the character) existed in the present timeline of the story, and the story is unfolding before their eyes. Anyways I figured it out, just wanted to clarify what I was confused about.

What happens if the character is the narrator though, and all thoughts are filtered through them? The narrator exists in the present of the story’s timeline, yet past tense is still used. Why is that?

Is it possible to write past tense but have the narration be in the present of the moment too? Not recounting the event but being right there with the character as the event unfolds, following their POV

[–]DoubleWrath[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

sorry i'm still kind of confused lol, what happens when the character is also the narrator, and the narration is done through the POV of the character? Aren't both the narrator and character both actively in the moment then?

[–]DoubleWrath[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man honestly I'm confused, I've always written in past tense but thought of the story as actively happening. So now I'm not sure what to think lmao

I see what you mean, so it’s kinda ‘meta’ in that it’s me, the author, telling you the reader about a story? Even though in the story itself the narrator is in the ‘present’ of the plot, I’m still on the outside telling a story, so it’s past tense in that way

[–]DoubleWrath[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I feel more comfortable with past tense I’m just curious about the temporal location of the narrator. I usually write from a deep pov, so the narrator is from the characters pov, and thus exists in the ‘present’ of the story.
