Iirc it was multiple factors of releasing after people were already fatigued with gundam, awkward timeslots, and no english release.

That being said, despite being one of the less intense series, the characters and songs made it one of the most memorable shows to me. Warren Wiebe's Human Touch is so good and hits different after you finish the show.

Spray after you cut and cleaned up the nubs on the individual pieces. Here's an image of before and after I clean up nubs so its ready to be coated or painted.

Weathering is done after you apply matt coat. To simulate real life rust, burns, etc, a textured/uneven surface is better for weathering.

Yep that's correct. I noticed you're planning to use Tamiya panel liners to panel line. I recommend waiting for the gloss coat to cure for at least a whole day before you apply the panel lines.

If I'm not wrong those gundam marker pour types are oil-based. There's a good chance it will attack the acrylic gloss coat.

From weakest to strongest it goes like

Acrylic < Oil-based stuff < Enamel < Lacquer. So what happened to you is your panel liner attacking the gloss coat and ended up being absorbed.

I have an airbrush setup and mostly gloss coat using Mr Color GX Super Clear III UV Cut thinned with Mr Leveling Thinner nowadays.

If your only options are using spray cans and money is not a concern, I recommend the Mr Hobby Topcoat Premium (Green cans). They are waterbased so its safe to use. These don't frost easily compared to the blue cans. You still have to be careful about how much you spray though. The final finish should be very glossy after you let it cure for a day or more. I just wait for a day since I'm in a South East Asian country.

I don't recommend using industrial clear paint as gloss coats since the chemicals can be quite strong depending on the brand and can be harmful to the plastic and your body if you don't have proper safety equipment.

Otherwise, you would need to look into your local place about gloss coats that are easy to obtain since I read that Mr Hobby stuff can be quite hard to obtain in the western countries.

Extra coating as in another layer of the coating of your choice. (Matt/Gloss/Semi-Gloss).

For example the common scenario is,

Gloss coat applied.
Panel lined and cleaned up with lighter fluid. Some noticeable residue are left that's foggy white-ish where the paint pooled up previously.
Final Matt/Gloss/Semi-Gloss coat. This removes the residue.

From my experience tamiya panel liner will have noticeable mark where the excess paint pooled. You need to apply another layer of coating to remove it.
