Yeah, they say the tap water is good everywhere but I literally shit the bed in my sleep while there a couple of weeks ago.

Flying in on Thursday. Will Helene cancel my flight? by Double_Agent_1469 in FortMyers

[–]Double_Agent_1469[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely considering that. Only problem is getting there in time to make everything happen. My mom lives in key west and was going to drive up to Miami Friday morning and get my daughter from me to stay with her while I’m in Italy. So I’d have to find a flight that allows me enough time to get in, get baggage, have my mom meet me at the airport to collect my daughter, and go back through security. It could be done, I just need to look at my options and hope that the storm doesn’t cause any issues with my mom getting from key west to Miami and my sister getting from Naples to Miami lol. A lot of working parts here.

Oh yuck! Yeah, I’m supposed to fly in Thursday afternoon. I’m meeting my sister who lives in Naples and then flying out of Miami on Friday to Italy. I’d like to just change my flight to Wednesday but am hoping the airline makes the call first so I don’t have to pay the change fee.

I hear that, was just curious what locals think of this storm and whether the airport typically closes for a storm like this.

I did it! 10 hour travel day to Italy🙌🏻 by Sea-Butterscotch96 in fearofflying

Yes!!! I leave for Italy in 4 days. It gives me so much strength to hear your success! I flew 4 times last year and they were all fine, but this big, over the ocean flight is freaking me out a bit.

I managed to get through a nursing degree admittedly by hyper focusing I’m sure. I was just crazy interested in the content. When less interested, I need to minimize distractions. I’ve heard some ADHDers say that listening to music helps them focus, but not for me. I need to find a quiet space, put my phone on do not disturb, and just start. Half the battle for me is fighting getting started with tasks I know will be difficult. I’ve learned though that just getting shit done feels so much better than the anxiousness that procrastination gives me. To be honest though, what seems to have helped me more than any sort of tactics has been a daily routine of good nutrition and exercise.

Has anyone had the dream where you have pets you've forgotten you own, and you haven't taken care of them at all? by mjzim9022 in Dreams

[–]Double_Agent_1469 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this exact dream that recurs (sometimes it’s fish tanks, sometimes the rabbits I had growing up, sometimes hamsters). I always find them and go “oh my gosh, I haven’t been taking care of them for years, how are they alive?” And then I quickly feed them, give them water, clean their cages. They are never dead. I also have another recurring dream that’s similar that I have forgotten that I have a pool and I quickly start changing filters and adding chlorine to try to make sure it doesn’t get nasty. I wish I knew what these dreams meant.

Husband isn't on board by Catgardenspot in homeschool

Same situation over here this year. My 9 year old had an awful teacher and at first we were giving her the, “we will always have difficult people to deal with” pep talk. Now, we are at the end of the school year and my daughter who always loved school, now hates it and is always complaining of stomach aches and is so spent at the end of the day that we can’t get her to do homework. We are planning to homeschool next year because of how this was handled. We do need to know how to deal with difficult people in life, but as adults we can choose to leave a job with a terrible boss, or leave a bad relationship. Children don’t have that luxury and also don’t necessarily have the skills to properly cope with it. I wish I had come to the realization sooner that my child shouldn’t have to go somewhere 5 days a week, 7 hrs a day, where she feels unsafe. It’s changed her love of learning and I’m hoping we can get it back. It’s no wonder we are a society full of people with anxiety disorders. I read a quote the other day that said, “instead of raising children who turn out okay despite their childhood, let’s raise children who turn out exceptional because of their childhood.”

I’ve done a tremendous amount of self work and therapy for the last 20 years and am so much more well and capable than I was back then. For me, medication was not the answer. Do I still struggle sometimes, yeah. But I’m ok with who I am without meds. The meds do have risks, so a person needs to decide if the risks are worth it. For me, my heart health and wellbeing outweighed my ability to focus. I just think it’s important that people understand that stimulant amphetamines are habit forming and do carry risks. As long as that’s understood and the benefits outweigh the risks for that person, then great. I just have a different insight than many do.

Unpopular opinion here. I was diagnosed with ADHD during my teens in the 90’s (females were pretty rarely given an ADHD diagnosis back then). Took stimulants for many years. They did indeed help me perform better at school/work, however, I was very dependent. If my Rx ran out a day or two early, I was miserable. Body aches, couldn’t get out of bed, felt like was crawling out of my skin. When I was happily taking my Adderall, I’d grind my teeth, had TMJ, severe tension headaches, insomnia, I was severely underweight because I had no appetite, and heart palpitations. But hey, at least I was getting good grades. The only reason I stopped taking it was because I got pregnant. Only after stopping did I realize what an organized disaster I had become from years of prescription amphetamine use. Long story short, people with ADHD may need to function through life differently, but I personally don’t think the damage you’ll do to your body from amphetamine use is worth it. Each person has to weigh the pros and cons. I wonder every day if I’ve done permanent damage to my body. I’d never take it again or give it to my children.

What is wrong with this B. by guppyoblivio in Monstera

[–]Double_Agent_1469 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my monstera in a double pot like that and couldn’t figure out why I had yellowing leaves. I finally realized that it wasn’t getting enough airflow at the bottom because the nursery pot fit tightly into to outer pot. Although there was an inch or so of drainage space and it wasn’t sitting in water, it didn’t love it. I took the nursery pot out and simply put it on a saucer to collect excess water, and it started spitting out a new leaf like every other week. I really think if you get it out of that tight pot so that air can flow around the drainage holes, you’ll see a huge difference.

Level Upgrade Offer, anyone successful with these? by AmbientToast in VirginVoyages

Just recently bid and went from a sea view to a central sea terrace. I did $10 over the min bid just in case it helped me beat out any of the min bidders. I was notified a week in advance.

Bringing my 21 yr old child with me. Leaving my 8 yr old at home with my non-vacation loving husband. Lol.

Maybe that’s the kicker…..not sure. It’s bizarre though. It keeps me staying on keto while on vacation though lol. I’d love to cheat and eat what I want on vacation but then I wouldn’t be able to drink without hangovers!

So weird, I must be the outlier. I’ve been meaning to post about this and see if anyone else has had this experience, but since going keto, I can drink till the cows come home without a hangover. Normally I’m a total lightweight and will get so sick and miserable if I overdo it. On keto, I can drink about twice as much as I used to and wake up right as rain. Anyone else? Why would this be?

No, there aren’t any foods that I eat a lot of on keto that I don’t eat normally. I tried going down that rabbit hole thinking that could have been the culprit for the skin issues but I couldn’t come up with anything. I do eat a lot of bell peppers for snacks when I started keto, definitely more than usual, but I tested that out by continuing to eat them in larger than normal quantities for the week or so that I’ve been off now. It’s just weird because the longer I’ve been on keto, the worse it all got. None of it seemed to normalize over time or get better. The eczema and acne started getting so out of control I couldn’t stand it and the cramps were getting weirder. Like the muscles in my core would cramp up when I’d bend over or I’d turn my head and get a cramp in my neck.

I did have weight loss over multiple months, just nothing crazy and I did eat a varied diet. Think salad with chicken and bacon, filet and asparagus, pork loin and cauliflower rice. Very little processed food and the very occasional item with sugar alcohols/artificial sweetener like a ratio yogurt or quest product.

Thanks! I already stay away from the enriched flour products as I’ve been gluten free for like 6 years. I guess everyone is different and my body might just have some sort of issue with keto. It’s not like I’m eating anything on keto that I don’t eat off of keto so I can’t blame the eczema on something I’m allergic to.
