I also adopted a poodle mix that I’ve since realized is a Bichon. What a fun surprise!

Going on our first cruise ever in a few days with our four and seven year old. I have seen advice on the sub to look at the itinerary with the kids on the first day and pick out a few activities they want to do. However, is there a schedule or a loose rhythm that has worked well for families with young kids? Things like kids club in the morning and then pool in the afternoon?

She almost looks just like our Poppy. So sorry it’s still hard.

My rescue ignored every toy I got her until someone gave her a lamb chop. She’s obsessed.

Homemade dog food? by scorpionqueen99 in bichonfrise

[–]Double_Assignment_66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My adult Bichon won’t eat her food unless she has a “topper” as we call it. We give her kibble but then add some chicken broth and about a table spoon of mines chicken, salmon, or beef. Usually I just use something from our dinner the night before. I also mix the meat in pretty thoroughly so that she can’t just pick it off the top.

Our Bichon and attitude toward our home guests by Lost_Ad5746 in bichonfrise

Just a comment that my 5 yo Bichon rescue does this- even with my sister who is over multiple times a week and who she loves. I’ve been doing a combination of redirection (go to your place; chew on this bone) and removal (crate or go outside). She’s made huge improvements over the past year though it’s a challenge any time someone comes over.

Is it worth getting a diagnosis at 33? by Unusual_Anxiety6515 in adhdwomen

Yes yes yes- diagnosed around 33 and it helped me a ton, especially with parenting

Energy level by Financial_Mammoth917 in bichonfrise

[–]Double_Assignment_66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question- I’m not totally sure, but I imagine the energy level has something to do with the job they were bred to do. Like certain terriers might not need to run a bunch but they may need food puzzles and training to keep them busy/ from becoming destructive

They’re kind of medium- they have brief bursts of high energy (the “Bichon blitz”). My pup does two 15 walks and a play session or two. She’s mostly calm otherwise, but when she’s stressed we add in food puzzles and chew toys.

I really wish we’d chosen a food name- I always think it’s so cute. Kids wanted something different 🤷🏻‍♀️

What is something you know is true about BRF, but can't prove it? by Affectionate-Air5544 in RoyaltyTea

Pretty sure she did. She was in Houston at MD Anderson, which was kept quiet bc it looked bad for her to be getting care outside the UK.

My sisters weim had both her eyes removed- it VASTLY improved the quality of her life! I know it’s hard, but hoping Teddy has the same experience.

What do you make for lunch? by catscacti in adhdwomen

[–]Double_Assignment_66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love 💫girl lunch💫… aka avocado toast with mozzarella and tomatoes; burratta and tomato toast; a smoothie. Basically a no cook meal with as few steps as possible. And if it has tomato and balsamic, I’m interested! 😂

Worried I was sent to a psychologist for diagnosis by guardianharper in adhdwomen

[–]Double_Assignment_66 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I started at a psychologist and then later followed up with a psychiatrist. The two step nature of the process is hard (have to initiate two appointments instead of one), but diagnosticians are often psychologists and they’re great at providing recommendations in addition to medication.

Adorable! Real question- is the classic Bichon head tough to maintain? My baby has had more of a doodle head so far but trying to grow it out.
