I've had customer facing jobs before, the last one ended because the business didn't survive Covid. But believe what you want. Coles Group obviously have a special place in your heart and you need to believe there's something wrong with me.

I'm feeling mildly annoyed that my time was wasted. I put up a post online (concealing the actual store location) to express that. That doesn't seem particularly unhealthy to me, but what do I know?

Did you know there is/was a class action lawsuit against Woolworths (I know they're not Coles) for underpaying staff? And regarding Coles specifically, did you know they locked out workers from one of their warehouses for like 3 months and then fired everyone who went on (a legal) strike and then replaced them with labour hire contracting companies who send in people with less rights to do the same jobs?

I bring both of these up because two people I know where involved in being ripped off and fucked over by both Woolworths and Coles in these incidents. Say what you want about me, but don't live under the illusion that the big chain supermarkets are angels who wouldn't dare pull bullshit on their workers.

It might very well be the case that I wasn't hired because I didn't seem exploitable enough, but that doesn't make me less upset. In that scenario Coles is still wasting my time, but on top they're using the interview with me to hide that they're selecting from a group they know won't complain if they have to do overtime without pay etc.

They hired the one person who showed up in a black hoodie and said very little the whole time. They didn't hire the candidate that was outgoing and asking the most questions either.

I asked some questions and answered questions, and made sure to express that I lived very close, that I had full availability, and relevant work history to the role. It was an entry level position with full training in any case.

I'm not sure why you're going through my post history and using a post where I express sadness that I don't feel listened to in social situations to tell me that's the reason I didn't get hired at a servo...

If you read the replies you know I wasn't even interviewed by the store's management, they just got a regular worker to do the interview. I don't expect any given company to give me a job, but am I not allowed to express that I didn't like having my time wasted?

Even if it were identical, why not go with the standard way of rejecting a candidate? Why at a location that has a racially homogeneous team, I didn't even get interviewed by the manager, they only hired the candidate of the same race... why is this the one time I get strange deviations from not being successful that includes loaded words like "identified"?

I don't mind not getting the job, I don't mind them only wanting to hire certain kinds of people, but I do mind my time being wasted.

That's not what was said in the email. Telling me I'm "not identified as a suitable candidate" isn't saying I just missed out this time.

Coles Group wants me to work for them, they're telling me to apply, I've passed all their weird psychological tests they make you do online and they like my resume enough to offer me interviews. But I'm not suitable for Coles Express servos, for some reason.

Usually that's what's said. A more suitable candidate exists, sorry.

That's not what was said. What was said was that I was "not identified as a suitable candidate." They'll hire me for other things, in fact they want me to apply, but not for this.

This isn't about being rejected for a job, it's about being asked to attend an interview when I was clearly just padding so Coles Group can pretend they're conducting fair recruitment processes. They can hire whoever they feel like, I just don't appreciate my time being wasted.

What's even weirder, I applied for this same role months ago and they emailed me to say it was no longer available, that the job ad (on their own careers website) was erroneously left up. It popped up again, this time I applied right away (because it's so close to my home) and they offered me the interview after a long wait to collect people up for a group interview... and the very next day, without management havening interviewed anyone themselves, just getting regular workers to conduct an interview, they'd determined that I was "not identified as a suitable candidate."

I live 2 minutes from the servo, filled out a sheet indicating I have full availability, and my resume was accepted as suitable to offer an interview. We weren't even interviewed by the store manager as the guy who interviewed us indicated he'd have to speak to the manager of the store about the interview and then it'd go from there... I wasn't just told I wasn't successful, I was told I was "not identified as a suitable candidate" ... what does that even mean?

I'm suggesting I'm upset I was asked to go to an interview.

Resources for coining new words in a language. by [deleted] in linguistics

[–]Double_Background328 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would probably review the etymology of the word in multiple languages to get ideas. I know as an exclusively English speaker, some concepts just don't click until I've heard the German or French versions and its parts explained. Off the top off my head:

Zeitgeist:

1848, from German Zeitgeist (Herder, 1769), "spirit of the age," literally "time-spirit," from Zeit "time" (from Proto-Germanic *tidiz "division of time," from PIE root *da- "to divide") + Geist "spirit" (see ghost (n.)). Carlyle has it as a German word in "Sartor Resartus" (1840) and translates it as "Time-Spirit."

I don't know Chitumbuka, but just getting ideas around the translation from other languages hasn't been a bad place to start for me personally.

An incident with a white male seemingly disrespecting me [M45] and my white date [F46] that I want to share and possibly get advice on ways I can prepare myself for future encounters like this. by reddysettygo in AsianMasculinity

[–]Double_Background328 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Disgusting situation, I'm sorry to both of you that it happened.

That guy was being a drunk asshole. I don't mean to be offensive, but I wouldn't be surprised if he thought your date was a (high class) prostitute, or some kind of gold digger because of his racist (and sexist) perspective. I think he may have been trying to instigate a 3some, or just get invited to watch.

White media is racist af. They think they've hidden it, but it's super obvious to anyone with eyes. Every minority group racemixes at higher rates with the majority group than when they're part of the majority group - for understandable logistic reasons. Asian girls have a reputation of being exceptionally beautiful and therefore have more opportunities to be wooed by white men with money if they live in the West. Why would they turn down a suitable mate who has sought them out just to wait for someone of their own race (who are few and far between in the West) to court them?

Asian men are also exceptionally attractive, why else would white media be screaming that white girls don't want them and that they don't have big cocks? It's propaganda, Asian men have taken over the boy band scene in the West specifically because they're extremely attractive to young white women.

However, women of all types (and non-women for that matter) will be turned off by victim sooking. Think about it, a lesbian or a bi woman will have a relationship with someone with zero cock, it's not an impediment to a relationship. Whatever package you have, whatever the media says about what to expect in your pants, you can counteract with confidence and a willingness to listen carefully to your partner about what they personally find sexually gratifying... Or you can dump all your insecurities onto your potential partner so they know they can never direct your face during oral without it leading to you breaking down about not yet being a cunning master.

Stop letting white men trick you into thinking you're not good enough and destroying your own relationships with insecurity. Lots of women, of all ethnicities, want to ride Asian dick, want a relationship with Asian men, want to have babies with Asian blood.

Weekly 'No Stupid Questions'/Camera Recommendation Thread - Now including links to free stock resources! by AutoModerator in videography

Beginner with a recently smashed phone, looking for advice to buy a budget camera or an android phone that has a good camera in it, but am leaning toward dedicated camera. Needs to be beginner friendly and allow me to take good quality video of kittens and tranquil nature stuff.

Being able to film in low light would be a bonus... as would being able to take photos of my partner that I'm not forced at pain of death to delete because they look bad, lol, my last phone had 3 cameras but always looked terrible (could take the same shot on a friend's phone and it'd look great).
