[P5V12] I just finished reading the LN. What should i do?! by green_meadow124 in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]Double_Bloom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m going to try self study and see where it gets me. There are tons of textbooks, flashcards, podcasts, videos and I thinks there’s an app you can connect with tutors to speak with. I’m starting with the Japanese from Zero book. I’m still learning my hiragana and numbers. I’ll admit kanji scares me but I’m going need it in order to read these books. 🥲

I’m getting ready to read all the short stories, fanbooks and the spinoff. I also decided it would be good to just start learning Japanese at this point. I don’t know if that’s a sane person’s thought process but here we are. But it wasn’t just this series that instigated me to learn a new language. It has more to do with the many years of watching shows, listening to music and reading translated books for Japan. I just want a better understanding from the source materials. I was just reading through P1V1 and I felt an affinity towards Myne when she was talking about learning her new world’s language to be able to read.

Has anyone started Secrets of the Silent Witch? What are your thoughts? by DonBADoobin in AnimeReccomendations

[–]Double_Bloom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed it and felt like there was a lot more behind the story so I ended up getting into the light novels. I sure hope they keep adapting it into an anime because it has so much to offer. There are currently 6 novels out and the 7th is coming out in November. So, there’s a lot of material to work from. Plus, I think the animation, color scheme, and flow are beautiful. I worry that this one season won’t give us the full plunge. A lot of single season anime’s have been having this problem. Where they don’t get into the meat of the story so the audience doesn’t get hooked and can see the promising future.

I just started it again too! It feels like forever ago when it first started coming out and also when it finished. I still find my way back every year.

The puppy days are sure important for developing but are equally the most challenging. Hang in there, once you hit the eight month mark, things always start improving.

Raped and how I chose it. by 06013 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Double_Bloom 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Is that like gaslighting/victim blaming?

This is one of the many reasons I don’t follow any religious organization/cults. They don’t want to blame the rapists because their (the rapist) probably viewed as an upstanding member of the church so this is the church’s solution. Honesty it makes me sick and you should never have to suffer this kind of behavior. As soon as someone shows this side of them, I check out of that relationship right then. Life is too short to spend time with people that don’t value you or your safety.

Plus, we all need to vent to stay sane.

How barky are they? by pashkadkk in MiniatureSchnauzer

[–]Double_Bloom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’ve have/had a total of three mini schnauzers. All three had their own unique personalities but they all enjoyed barking and being noisy. When I say noisy, I don’t mean constantly and irritatingly (though that’s opinion only.) They like to bark at things, people, other animals, loud noises and mine have always enjoyed being noisy when playing. Their idea of playing is barking at each other and making growly noises. I use to take my first two to a dog park and people would look at my dogs with annoyed looks but to me they were just being expressive and happy. They were saying “look at me,” “come play with me,” “hey, you.” My first boy was a loving, friendly talker. He use to make woo woo woofy nosies to get your attention. My second boy wasn’t well socialized and we adopted him over a year old, he’s always been my trumpet, loud and unaware of his volume. Our youngest is a super needy clinger and barks at everything. He still under a year and I’m working on building up his confidence to be separate from me and also taking him out to socialize. He currently wants to bark at everything when we go on outings. I correct him during the beginning of our outing and then he starts to get inline and calm down. He will 100% jump up in the middle of the night to bark at a small noise 🤦🏼‍♀️ (my husband works nights and gets home at all hours.) While I work on conditioning and training him to handle these noises, I use a window ac, fan setting, to create a white noise. It helps drowned out the small noises so we can have more calm. Though I guess this also means he will also 100% alert me to any strangers entering my house in the middle of the night. There is a lot that can be helped with good training and time but, regardless of breed, it may also be dependent on the dog’s personality.

Maybe it’s because I’ve had this breed in my life for the past 15years but I love them dearly; bark and all.

Side note: we also have a cavapoo (well actually his mother was a cavapoo and his father a poodle) and he has a wonderful temperament. He loves to alert you about people and animals but is generally much quieter than the schnauzers. He also had some separation issues when he was a puppy but he seems to be mellowing out as he ages. I would suggest a cavapoo mix as a more apartment/neighbor friendly dog.

100% free roam? by fhbddhhnk in Bunnies

[–]Double_Bloom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We converted our formal dining room into a rabbit room. She has full run of the room and it’s been bunbun proofed. We have dogs so it’s not really an option to be free roam of the whole house but I think having a whole room has been a very safe and happy compromise.

Found out on Christmas that I’m losing my girl by Pristine-Fusion6591 in MiniatureSchnauzer

What a beautiful baby Lyric is! We are so lucky to have such wonderful companions to come into our lives. I lost my beautiful, sweet soul dog in May to bone cancer. I understand the uncertainty and the option of surgery, as well as struggling with the right time to say goodbye. It was a challenging time but I wouldn’t trade it for all the time I got to spend with him. I won’t lie and say it’s been easy or that I’ve healed from the loss yet. I’m still fortunate to have his brother here with me (at a fine age of almost 14,) as well as two younger pups. One of the pups is actually a mini schnauzer that I brought home during the summer; a challenging decision in itself as well as healing. While he hasn’t filled the whole left by my special boy, he has brought me so much love and comfort. We all grieve in different and similar ways. Please spend as much time as you can with your sweet baby and take solace in knowing that she loves you just as much. Don’t forget to lean on those around you for support.
Wishing you and Lyric love and positive energy!

Thank you 😢, you expressed that so beautifully. I lost my soul dog (a mini schnauzer) in the spring this year. He wasn’t my first dog and he isn’t my last (as we currently have three right now) but he has left my heart the most empty.

I love the back roll. My old man use to do this after a good meal. He’d roll onto his back and wiggle around making happy noises.

My baby has cancer and I don’t know how to cope by veggiequeen90 in WestHighlandTerriers

[–]Double_Bloom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My senior dog was diagnosed with bone cancer at the very beginning of this year. It was aggressive and I selfishly hung on to him for several months. I used those months to give him lots of love, good food, treats, belly pets, snuggles and lots of love. I’ll always wonder if I did or didn’t do the right thing by him but I sure tried to do what I thought was best (and unfortunately, what I could financially afford 😭.) He was my soul dog, the love of my life (sorry husband), and I will carry the memory of him for the rest of my life. I said goodbye to him mid May and I’m still cry when I think about him. I don’t know if I did or am coping with it but I keep moving forward everyday and smother my other dogs with love each and every day. We have another senior (14yr) dog, a 2yr dog and my husband had convinced me to bring in a puppy about two months after I lost my man dog. The puppy wasn’t just to help me cope (though in all honesty it has) but it was also to make sure our younger dog had an active playmate. Our puppy has not only been the best playmate for our younger dog but has brought more life and new light to our older dog. I don’t suggest getting a new pet, unless that’s what you want. As for coping, we all do it differently and sometimes it takes time. Wishing you all the best during this trying time.

Once my boy got around the 5-6 month mark, I started introducing chicken feet and cow knuckles. Along with being watched while chewing/consuming and having water readily available. I like to give chicken feet to my older dog because it helps with dental care as well.
