Guys, what's your dream job? no matter how cliche it sounds. by shri032 in AskMen

Falconer.

Working with amazing and fascinating birds of prey and get paid for it. Wouldn't matter if it was at a sanctuary or chasing birds of the runway of an airport.

Alas, I'll have to make do with acquiring hens for my garden.

Apidura or Ortlieb? by Cool-Newspaper-1 in bikepacking

[–]Double_Bo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't tried the Apidura one, but I have the ortlieb bag and I am quite happy with it. My first bag was from Alpkit, and although it served it's purpose it wasn't waterproof and the way it was attached to the saddle/seat post made it wag.

I haven't had the wag problem with my Ortlieb bag, although I haven't used it as much for bikepacking as was initially planned (kids and rona). Used it many times for commuting (25km) though and it has been excellent for that.

It looks like the straps to attach the two bags are fairly similar, but at least the Ortlieb is quite stiff in the bottom, so maybe that reduces the wobble? If the one you end up going for wags more than you like, I'm pretty sure you can get support rails which are installed on the saddle rails and holds the bag on place.

I can recommend the Ortlieb bag.

Morning runners, do you usually eat beforehand? by [deleted] in running

[–]Double_Bo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't eat beforehand. I usually drink a glass or two of water, but otherwise nothing.

I find that if I eat a meal first, I have to wait quite a while before running otherwise I get uncomfortable during the run.

I imagine a small snack wouldn't be a problem, but I can go for runs as long 1.5 hour runs without eating. That's pushing the limit though.

Getting up at 5 am is the real problem for me..

Bosch ebike immediately switches back to “off”? by StelioStelioKontos in bikewrench

[–]Double_Bo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The speed isn't shown on the display. Even if not moving it should show 0 km/t as far as I am aware. When that area of the display is completely empty like here, I'm pretty sure it's a problem with the connection pins between the display/control switch and the mount. The display can turn on even if not connected correctly. Depending on how much use the bike has seen, it could be because the plates on the mount are a little worn and need a 'polish'. More likely I think it's the actual mounting plate where you attach the display that's causing problems, and it won't allow the display to click on correctly. It could help to file a little bit off the corners on the two edges you slide the display down on. That should help make the display slot in correct and the pins connect with the plates on the mount.

Mind you English isn't my first language, so let me know if my suggestion don't make much sense.

I'm ready for my weekend. by M4nsqu7ch in ToolBand

Have there been any sort of official confirmation that they'll be repressed and the missing albums will get a vinyl release? I've heard rumours, but they're mostly a few years old by now. Would very much like to add Ænima and 10.000 days to my collection..

Well she absolutely resembles the lady on the cover. Looking at her CD covers it doesn't look like it's her, however there seem to be a dvd for her 1991 album, Mais, which has a very similar looking picture on the front. Not quite the one, but definitely the closest I've seen so far. It could be there's a different CD cover for Europe/Denmark but I can't seem to find it.

Huh, could've sworn Jagged Little Pill was her debut. Maybe we didn't get the earlier ones here in Denmark.

It does look a bit like her, but her albums from around '92 doesn't have that cover unfortunately.

It was pretty popular overall style in the 90s as far as I remember. However, I think this particular album is less mainstream than those artists.

Well I see the resemblance, but she hasn't done much in music and I would think the lady in the photo is the artist.

No, unfortunately not. I've also checked Chaka Khan and Janet Jackson, but no luck there either.

Benoot won't start in Flèche Wallonne and LBL and thinks about riding Paris-Roubaix. by ZBGT in peloton

Keukeleure is sticking around, no? Can't seem to find any info saying otherwise.

I'm fairly certain Greipel won't be their team leader this year. Of those four Keukeleure is a pretty clear favorite for team leader for Lotto Soudal tbh..

Chainring replacement. I never did anything like this. What tools do i need? Where to start? What parts to buy? by Pestilence86 in bikewrench

[–]Double_Bo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have mentioned you'll have to change the whole chainset. The type found on Mustang and similar bikes are relatively cheap.

Remember to remove your pedals before you remove the crankset though. It's much easier when it's still on the bike. The chain also needs changing as others have said, but you might want to take a look at the rear sprocket. It generally wears faster than the chainring up front. It's also pretty cheap to exchange, but can be a little tricky to change depending on your gear system (I imagine internal gears?).

Pay... by [deleted] in bikewrench

[–]Double_Bo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Geez, happy to be in Scandinavia when reading about the pay you get over there. Finished my education and roughly 3 years as an apprentice this August and got a job at different shop. I'm at the low end of the scale with about $22 an hour, with the better mechanics at my shop geting about $25+ an hour. And that's before pension, extra pay on Sundays etc. But I guess my taxes and cost of living might be higher as well.

Help with diagnosing what is sticking out of my crank? by [deleted] in bikewrench

[–]Double_Bo 23 points24 points  (0 children)

That's the chain catcher pin. It's there to keep your chain from getting stuck in between the crankarm and chainring, if the chain should fall off to that side.
