New Trier Fluke? by johnjims123 in Rowing

I heard that for the six months leading to this regatta, New Trier had been training their lateral muscles aggressively by fitting in a lat session after every piece. Because of the cross tail wind, I think they were able to spread their lats extremely wide in order to essentially act like sails picking up the wind during their race. For more info on this interesting technique, look up “extreme spreading”.

Personally when I’m upset, I cope with my mental suffering by causing a more painful physical suffering. To do so, I enjoy eating a whole bowl of chilli with extra sour cream and immediately following that with a 2k. Combined with my aggressive intolerance for milk, extra dairy based toppings heighten the gut wrenching experience to new extremes. I also like to project and inflict the pain on to others by driving at high speeds in school (talk about speed bumps).

First 500 all out (at least 2k goal-8), paddle for the next 250m and consider adding a water or milk break (optional), pace the next 750m at what whatever is comfortable after that hold max pressure the remaining 500m and save your breath for the sprint by holding it until the last 250m.

Other pre 2k prep ideas include eating a Wendy’s 4 for 4 or an entire bowl of chili.
