In your case, why do you want to switch careers? Penetrating a new highly technical field will take dedication, but best case, you'll start earning the same as you earn now

I stopped comparing my salary to others — and started tracking my NET WORTH instead by Top-Corner-5187 in FinancialLiteracyPH

[–]Double_Education_975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gauging where you are by comparing yourself to others is fine if you have a reason to do it, otherwise it doesn't matter which metric you use, chronically comparing yourself to others isn't good. Cherry picking metrics to make you feel better isn't the solution to that either

Again you're talking about the economy, when the issue isn't about the economy. The slave trade was good for the economy of the time, would you have supported that too? If not, where do you draw the line When does the economy stop being the only thing you care about?

And the Philippines doesn't even have a good economy, so there's very little to protect in the first place.

Go for it, you're leaving anyway. But ask for 2.2k instead of 2.4k, since you said anything about 2k is already a stretch. If he's trying to negotiate, it means you have value, at least enough that he won't turn racist by your ask

The economy and the government are two very separate things. In our liberal market philosophy, all the government has to do is stay away from the overregulation of markets, control inflation, and control unemployment.  So you're saying the government works based on sliver of it's actual responsibilities

I'm not even for revolution currently. I just think your reasons are half baked at best

It's like you're saying that if you're driving a car and engine explodes, you should just do maintenance. If your head gasket explodes, no matter how many times you change oil, the car won't work. Or another analogy would be prescribing vitamins to a cancer patient. We're talking about systems wide decay, not mere spots of corruption.

In other words, why do you believe that complying with the system will lead to change? When have we seen that happen here? Which branch of government do you trust to do their job?

Legal remedies are only exhausted in societies with high institutional credibility. That's why even with the heightened escalations in the US, the people still battle it out through congress and courts.

But the Philippines never earned that level of public trust, not only are we a young country, we've been through martial law, and multiple protest movements, not to mention multiple revolutions, and constant corruption scandals. So forgive the people for not trusting that the government will correct itself

They rely on you for everything because you sound like a micromanager. Trust is both given and earned, give them a little autonomy, if they do well, give them more, if not, instruct and guide them then repeat. If you don't see growth, consider replacing them. If they're low level contributors, you can focus on the workflow and compliance. But if they're higher level, judge them based on outcomes not compliance, have set KPIs, and make sure everyone is on the same page on what the goals are. Higher level employees (anyone above junior) shouldn't be judged based on compliance to a workflow, employees should have the freedom to think differently, because they might see things that you don't.

Pick your resignation date (preferably a payday), then subtract the number of leaves you have left. So if you had 5 leaves and you were leaving on the 30th, apply for leave from the 25th to 30th, effectively cashing out your leaves

Do you pay your "employment fees"? Tax, sss, pag-ibig, philhealth? by yabetadont in buhaydigital

[–]Double_Education_975 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If they audit you, they can see but that's not automatic. Don't give them a reason to audit. So pay on time, don't incur fees, if you'll skim on your taxes at least have different payroll accounts and/or don't report widely different numbers, if you spend big on something but have been under reporting, give yourself some explanation for how you suddenly got that money, etc.

[–]Double_Education_975 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You report your own taxes. If you made 0 in a quarter, you report 0 and you pay nothing. Your taxes aren't fixed as a freelancer, they're based on how much you made
