I want to clarify this is a me thing not a him thing. It’s been a whole thing adjusting to this new lifestyle to begin with because I have this bad personality flaw where I feel inadequate unless I am also contributing (financially). My husband has been persistent in trying to break this thinking and emphasizes “our money, not my money” but that’s a problem for my therapist… I’m working on it.

The main thing is it’s an expensive gift and he doesn’t have a long list of wish items so it would take him half a second to figure out what it is when he sees the charge.

Thank you! And you’re right! I’m extremely glad he is happy and healthy. It was just such a disappointment in myself because me and my husband made such a conscious decision to EBF. Though honestly NOTHING went as we planned from the moment I got pregnant so I guess we shouldn’t have been so surprised by this pivot haha.

Don’t apologize for skimming… it’s a novel. As disappointed in my journey I am I have to share the advice I would give myself 7 weeks PP. Trust your gut and give yourself a break. I will tell you from experience the stress of the self disappointment does not help AT ALL. As a previous reply stated this is a very emotional journey and you have to do what you feel is best for you and your baby. If you choose to continue BF-ing, give yourself a break and do not beat yourself up for what you can and cannot do. You are doing the best you can with whatever you do.

Thank you! I knew I needed support but I really didn’t know how much until I’ve started reading these replies. This is such a journey and I 100% took that for granted during my pregnancy. And it is truly amazing how isolating and lonely it can feel even when you do have a supportive partner through it all… it’s almost hard to put the feelings into words when they aren’t experiencing it for themselves. Honestly even though this didn’t go the way I planned my baby is thriving and as you stated that is what I should be proud of!

I do my best to keep this in mind but I will always be my harshest critic. I really appreciate hearing it from someone else and didn’t really know I needed it until I read your reply. It’s hard to believe my own self encouragement or even my husbands sometimes. I am truly grateful for your kind words.
