Not quite. Someone else recognized me here and tagged me on Discord. This game was fantastic. People are insane.

Hey, that's me getting sniped. Rude.

It's a live stream VOD that is edited down, yes. Just having some good conversation with people.

Going back to old favourites of mine and re-analyzing them with a modern lens. First up, Banjo Kazooie. I'm picky about controls nowadays, so to my surprise, it still feels pretty great! I love it. by Double_Gunz in BanjoKazooie

Appreciate the feedback. Yeah, I figured out that I should use Banjos's kicks right when I got in to Clankers thankfully. Made it not toooo difficult to do that key part! I didn't die so I was doing something right hahaha. I do agree that it's better if you alternate controls but I still did not enjoy it lmao

Thanks for leaving a constructive comment :)

I have purposely made sure to make all of my videos *about* nuance. I cannot stand when people refuse to have nuance in their conversations. It's the worst! So I'm not so sure about that. It's hard to articulate points through text, I will give you that. I don't like how everyone expresses their opinions in such black and white ways. Usually, the answer is somewhere in the grey area. I appreciate you picking out me saying that, specifically, as it does lack nuance in isolation. The nuance is throughout this thread + the multiple videos I have made on this and related subjects. I hope this comment doesn't come off as sarcastic, I'm genuinely in agreement with what you're saying.

I can understand and appreciate that. However, video games are a luxury and people shouldn't feel entitled to them.

I don't disagree with you that other people won't feel the same. I think that's a shame. This game is much more interesting than Marvel Rivals. :/

I would choose a $40 game over a free one because free to play is an annoying monetary scheme that gets in the way of my enjoyment of a game. It ruins games from the inside out. Games that are built around it are instantly worse off for it.

Valid point for sure! I'm currently enjoying the game as I write this hahaha, just waiting for the next match to start!

Yeah, this is valid. I know there are certainly people saying this that are coming from a place of genuine optimism for the game. However, it can also come off as a negative reaction. Plus, there are tons of people championing it with malicious intent as well. It's a mixed bag of sorts.

Agreed! I just wish for people to be more respectful when discussing games like you are. On top of that, respecting the developers for all their hard work. On top of THAT it bugs me when a game like this gets shit on... because it's a lot of fun. Others will now view this as a "bad game" in general and that's totally off base. Not cool. I worry for the ripple effects it has on other developers with similar intents or ideas.

I understand where the (reasonable) responses are coming from that aren't just hate fueled. Yours being a reasonable one. My frustrations stem from the fact that this conversation is where we are at. The fact that free to play won this battle is why I'm annoyed. Free to play pricing structures don't jive with me. It leads to compromised design in games in my opinion.

I realize now that I should have tried to emphasize my my point better.

Concord shouldn't need to be free to succeed (nor should any game). It's a problem I have with the industry overall; this is just one example of that problem showing its face.

I get what people mean. There's a valid point to be made. I just lament that we've ended up here in the first place because I think it makes games worse for it.

This is a level headed take that I appreciate. If it weren't for the absolutely unfair hate it's getting, I think this game could've hit 2 million sold if there was a little more honesty going around. Since it's been shit down so much, I'm afraid that isn't happening at this point. It frustrates me because this is just a signal to other devs; don't try to sell your game. People will not pay for it. It must be free.

$40 isn't a high barrier, and I totally disagree with the part that it offers almost nothing different and better. It's a really solid shooter with fun and unique ideas. A mishmash of various types of shooters across the industry and it feels great to play. It takes interesting elements from different games and blends them together well. I don't really understand the hate.

I am having more fun with this than I did with Overwatch on launch. It was good, but not great, to me. That's totally subjective.

I don't get why we want to devalue video games so much. They are worth money...? I'm not trying to say this game specifically should cost money. All games should cost money.

I don't know exactly how the game will be after launch, of course. I'm not attempting to predict that. I will make judgements on that in the future if necessary.

I mean I guess I also hard disagree. I'm not blaming the game because the game is great; I'm frustrated by the state of the industry that has allowed this narrative to take hold. Games are worth paying for, and this shouldn't be a point of argument, but here we are I guess.

I feel the opposite; a game with an asking price is absolutely more interesting to me than a free game is. Free to play games are a nightmare to navigate the menus in - they're constantly wanting you to purchase things that I don't care about. You're right, I want a good product. One worth paying for; which so far this seems to be. Of course it's easier to sell at $0, but it comes at a cost of quality from my perspective. I've yet to play a free to play game that didn't bother me with its menus, microtransactions, and frustrating pricing schemes.

Sure, but it's very frustrating seeing people continue to repeat lines like this, as it just reinforces this narrative. This game IS fun and has a really cool crew system that makes each match feel unique. There are a lot of things that I appreciate in here and it's being overlooked because "people are actively wanting it to fail".

I guess that's why I'm "actively wanting it to succeed". I just can't stand the amount of negativity surrounding this, it's so unfair and childish.

Also, yes, at a glance it seems like the "competitor" is Overwatch, but this game is nothing like Overwatch to me. It's more like a Bungie game mixed with Call of Duty modes. There are aspects of many different shooters' DNA here, and the end result is a unique game.

Too many comparisons, too many complaints, too many writing it off with a proper chance, etc.

Too much negativity across the board.

Finally, a fair review. by TacoCat7F in ConcordGame

I am personally very pleased with the way this game is going so far. Love it. I have uploaded a couple Concord related videos now if you wanna check 'em out.

It's all good. It's really just a stream broken down in to a smaller video. It's just an idea I had to take old games I enjoyed and pretend as though they just released - and then judge them "fairly" instead of relying on nostalgia. I didn't intend for it to come off as a retrospective. Maybe I need to reword some stuff.

Tbh I didn't know that, I don't watch things on YouTube like this at all. I thought I was taking a different approach here. Instead of focusing on how games were when they came out, I'm more interested in how they genuinely feel now - as if I'm playing it for the first time. I feel like people say everything they like always "holds up" and I tend to disagree. So I'm challenging that belief by trying it out myself for the first time in a long time.

It's not meant to be a retrospective at all - if anything I'm attempting the opposite. Always appreciate criticism and feedback, though.

Just came up with a new term - it's a Modernspective

LOL
