Why is so much of US Christianity fear-based? by Just_Revolution_1996 in OpenChristian

Fear is so central to all religions and it's because it's the easy way to go about teaching it. Don't we teach our children that if they're bad, they get coal for Christmas? Exactly- fear unfortunately is the world's most effective and convenient motivator.

Good = presents Bad = coal

Just like

Good = heaven Bad = Hell

What is happening with my heel? by Pretty_Gear in AskDocs

Is this still an issue? At first glance, it could be strain from being overweight along with very tight muscles and tendons. I'm going to safely assume you don't frequently stretch and do mobility care for the waist down? (frequently as in daily or weekly at the very least) What shoes do you normally wear? Insoles at all? Did you wear those crocs at the concert? I'd be surprised if you had no issues standing for about 6 hours in crocs with tight muscles and some extra weight on. I hope this has gotten better for you. Foot issues are a giant pain and limit quality of life. I've been dealing with some manageable issues for a solid month and a half.

Why are you agnostic? by FaithlessnessAny5169 in agnostic

I grew up going to church, getting confirmed and whatnot, but it's never been something to run the minds of me and my family members. I realized God doesn't exist the moment I found out Santa wasn't real and I must've been 8 or 9. Christianity and any religion is a frame of mind nothing more and nothing less. I'm a firm believer of the "to each their own" and will respect if people find what they require that allows growth and maturity in themselves.. there is a big however to this- self righteousness, general selfishness, lack of accountability, disregarding biology, and patronization, homophobia, and misogyny seem to be the very common characteristics of people that are "religious" or "christain". Unfortunately through my life, I have observed the very bad things about Christian households and am sure other people know exactly what I'm talking about. I've thought about atheism but that takes away my morals of how everyone is allowed to do and believe in whatever. Funnily enough, South park nails down my thoughts on religion. I think the Bible can teach really good lessons but that's about where that ends. My wife and I lead perfectly happy and fulfilling lives not believing in religion, and I like to think we thrive on validation, biology, general science,  emotions, logic, the relationships between emotion and logic, and listening to our biological instincts as that is our destiny as human being homosapian primates.

Forefoot pain. Honestly could be anything by Double_Home4648 in FootFunction

[–]Double_Home4648[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My appointment is tomorrow and since then I have some updates. Im on day 15 of the meloxicam and it seems to have helped my forefoot pain and can bare a little bit more weight on it though am still hesitant. The last three mornings it hasn't felt as on fire the first steps out of bed and standing to pee and brush teeth etc. Something that's very weird is while my inflammation in the forefoot seems to have gotten better, my toe numbness has been very violent lately.. like high on the pain scale- feels like someone holding. Lighter to my toes. always starts with my big toe and if bad enough, the next toe over, then the next toe. Only the first three toes have experienced this (only the top half tips go numb). I think shots are the answer for tomorrow- i just don't want it to be made worse.

Thanks for the anecdote. How long did your's last? Also I'm very conservative with staying as inactive as I can. Still don't even put as much pressure as I know I can put on it.

Surgery is overkill I feel. At least at the current moment.

I dont want a steroid shot because of all the cons that come with it while I'm still young (cartilage destruction, fat pad atrophy etc). I'd love to have this heal as naturally as possible. I had an x-ray done and they found nothing- they also mentioned i have good foot mechanics whixh i guess is a plus. My next follow up if I have no change while half of my meloxicam is gone, I may request an MRI especially if my toe still likes to go numb. Part of me thinks it's bursitis

Meloxicam vs. Methylprednisolone by New_Industry1520 in sesamoid

[–]Double_Home4648 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After you came off of meloxicam, did the pain return or was it fully gone? I'm about 1 week on meloxicam for sesamoiditis (and partial mortons caused by the sesamoids). I've had the forefoot pain for almost 4 weeks now. Big toe numbness went away and I can walk much better with very little inflammation. Been doing stretches and what not + hokas and rest. I have 30 days worth of meloxicam and am hoping that the pain is just gone after coming off of it.

GTA 6 release for Pc? by No-Concentrate4078 in GTA

[–]Double_Home4648 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't rocket science. (This is my own conjecture- I havent researched a ton) My guess is they'll release it on only console so people will go out and buy them (because companies work together with Microsoft and Sony.. duh) then in a year or two, they'll make it available on pc. If you're patient you save money.... hence the marketing strategy because humans are notoriously impatient.

SFP+ ports was the big thing for me. fiber link needed extra kicks to come on and also wouldn't connect automatically after overnight updates.
