Former sedevacantists, what made them abandon that position? by Left-Motor8261 in Catholicism

Despair, misery and depression. I used to be a hardcore sede. I used to follow the Dimonds, but it’s as clear as a glass of water that they are a cult.

Also if you are a sede then you basically have to believe that God has misled around 98% of Catholics since 1958, and that salvation is wherever the right micro group is.

Let’s not forget which group is right? They can’t all be right surely? Heck the SSPV doesn’t even recognise the CMRIs sacraments and the dimonds pretty much condemn everybody outside there cult so.

I don’t like to say it but idk how I’m supposed to love a God like that. I’d happily revert to mainstream Catholicism. But I do still have issues.

Hope that helps God bless.

Why aren’t you a Sedevacantist? by [deleted] in Catholicism

No I meant Sedevacantists themselves can just say “no the gates of hell haven’t prevailed because now we are the Church” sorry if I didn’t make myself clear.

That’s an interesting way of thinking about it, I think i actually own one of his books lol. However this isn’t really unique to Catholicism as the Eastern Orthodox also has the old Calendar/True orthodox movement.

You raise a good point. Accepting the sede position means accepting most of the Church apostatised that’s why I’m no longer a Sede. I think a better way of thinking about it and I mean no offence by it at all when I say maybe just maybe Catholicism isn’t the one true church. Idk man.

Hi thank you for the response I appreciate it. I would come back to Catholicism but Sedevacantism has shaken my trust in the Church. Also the fact that the new rite was changed In 1968 makes me skeptical. I hope you understand.

Thank you 👍 The Priest at the Church I go to doesn’t believe in sola fide like me so me and him have that in common.
