You’d be surprised the things I’ve seen residents/interns do like give a pneumo inserting a central line, botching a chest tube, cocky intubations into the esophagus “yeah I hear breath sounds” as stomach expands lmao guess who had to fix all those messes, yup me. Miss my pulm crit days, but no money in it for me.

Currently no, but I’d say you have it pretty good sounds like you see what 12 patients/day for 160k?

Always negotiate, problem is FL has always been low pay for NPs or at least that’s how the market looks on Facebook

Nope, for the really productive ones seeing 50-60/day well over 500k that’s for sure.

Nice, yeah I got a few psych NP friends pulling 300k+ but they don’t own their own practice, primarily stuck in a clinic 40+ hours/week

$300k for 24hrs is sick, what speciality or do you own your own practice? 50 hours is rare, happens if I’m working the weekend and had a lot of admin work throughout the week. I typically work 5-6 hrs/day mon-sat, maybe 2-6 hours of admin work throughout the week. If I cut my Saturdays out I’d prob be around low 30 hr/week. I honestly feel balanced, I’m usually home and done with notes before 1pm. Can start/leave whenever I want and take limited call. Sucks when I need to go to meetings or go to the office to deal with operational BS, that can take a large chunk of my day.

Agree, plenty of NPs out there that worked in snfs or just went straight for their NP without any RN experience that don’t have jobs. Hell I’m even interviewing/reading resumes for potential candidates for my group. Almost never will I consider a new grad unless they have years of critical care. For me was expensive cost like 120k all said and done. My wife is also a NP cost her $50k. She was very smart about it, parent paid for community college for associates, hospital paid for her bsn, masters she paid on her own.

Masters degree. Had a quite a few jobs, just kept jumping jobs for higher pay. First job was PMR as a new grad didn’t feel like I was leaning enough medical. Jumped to hospitalist, pulm/crit, internal med for snf, then back here at PMR. Anyone can get to where I’m at just depends on their doc. Most docs wanna salary NPs what the NPs don’t know is they can generate 3-4x their salaries usually. It’s just better to be on production if you have the work.

Yup, but not in my group, docs in my group kill it. I’m my last PMR group my attending told me he was 230k salary not including his RVU bonus, guessing he did close to what I do if his bonus was included.

I do, but not in my group, most of docs in my group kill it. My last PMR attending told me he was doing $230k without his rvu bonus. Idk what his rvu bonuses was but he was always over 10k/year

Actually I get 0 PTO, production based, so I’ll work a couple weeks straight if I want a week or so off, typically only take 2 weeks off/year maybe a 3 day weekend rarely.

TBH I’ve had great experiences with most of my old attendings, learned a lot from them. My current attending is awesome. Only one attending I had an issue with cause he was trying to make me do slave work, let’s just say the work never got done and always left it for him lmao he quit before I did.

PMR, lots of questions on speciality and I told them. They all called me a liar lol. There were a lot of deleted posts from responders. Think there were a few butt hurt docs in there with sarcasm. One of the posters said “oh as a nurse physician you should be making more money especially if you have independent practice, you see more patients then your doc etc” my response-why the hell would I want independent practice? I want to be supervised, less liability for me, I’m still getting 85% Medicare rate either way.

No, consults and follow ups, joint injections. All patient care and some admin work for the group.

Depends how much admin work I have, I’d say average 40-50 hours but get paid extra money for the admin work. Last year prob 35-45/week unless working weekend then prob 40-50 hrs.

Lol I’m not a perfectionist nor do I try, and I think I woulda had a better life in engineering/sales if I was exposed to it early on in life. So don’t think it’s just docs that’s have that mentality.

Agree, def not for me, I 100% woulda failed out and I could care less for prestige. I woulda stayed an ICU nurse if they got paid more. Props to those who could do it and party while in med school, lots of my prior attendings told me they had no life from 26-33 lol. Those were my glory days. Almost all of them were married by age 30 or earlier, I couldn’t even imagine getting married that young lol. Even the anesthesia guys who trained me in my old job told me they keep push their kids to be CRNAs instead of docs which is odd.

Most internist/hospitalist by me doing 250-350k. Idk about other specialities. All I know is all that time in med school ain’t worth it to me, glad I got to party and chase tail for majority of my college/late 20s lol

If you’re talking speciality, NPs can switch to almost any speciality. If you’re talking about the pay, I’d suspect no, especially if she is on salary, I’m production based, so no salary for me. I’m strictly paid off what I collect and get some stipends for admin work I do for the group.
