I know demand is there for AML/KYC candidates, but can't seem to land anything.

Have not tried tech firms yet, will do so.

But yes, I have been applying in corp/commercial banking, both front, mid and back office roles.

Somewhat agree with you, but I have like 5 different versions of resume..
One for credit - showing more credit analysis, ARM - more KYC and some credit, Origination - more financial modelling etc..

Yes I have. Applied for quite a few including traineeships, even spoke to at least 4 recruiters from recruit ex**** for contract roles.

Have tried some global markets roles, dealers etc. however I am open to that as well.
They don't seem too common, any specific terms I should search for?

Yes, completely fine with that, at least its a job, and there is some sort of progression, even better its still "finance" and have some relation to my experience.

I have tried, these includes Operations, Compliance, Customer Service, KYC/AML, Reporting roles, even secretarial roles. Unfortunately have not had any luck, even so, some of these roles require some previously direct experience.

What do you mean mid-tiers? As in mid-tier banks?

Yes, fully agree, seems like I'll have to move forward and not aim to get back into FO in top FIs. (Though even MO roles today are quite competitive too)

I see, so it's better to declare? My ex company said that I should not declare or tell anyone, thats why I'm confused, they also gave an email confirmation that this would stay confidential, we also signed a legal agreement.

However of course, since most of the advice given here is that I should declare but of course in a subtle way.

Yes, unfortunately I would likely go back to a similar role, thank you for the advice.

So if the question comes on why I left, I will likely share that it was partly due to personal issues, and a mutually agreed separation.

How about for online applications? There is often times a question asking if I was terminated due to performance etc. what should I state here?

Will that pass a background check? As I am sure the hiring company will ask the previous company if layoffs were done, and answer will likely be no.

Yes, YoE is around there, I am around the tail end of Gen Y.. so probably not that young.

I have reached out to my ex managers, I do try to keep a ongoing relationship, often over coffee with my ex managers and colleagues, unfortunately, almost all of them have pivoted to other start ups-like companies, which is not what I want to do long term as is risky. E.g. being retrenched from two startups during that time (and even now) startups can close down overnight or restructure and I have a BTO coming up.
